‭Introduction‬

‭ urah Al-Mulk‬‭1–30: The whole Quran is special, and‬‭every part of it is going‬

‭to have something to benefit you. But is it okay to have a favorite Surah? Or‬
‭to recite something repeatedly or listen to it. Because it resonates with you in‬
‭a certain way, maybe because of where you’re at in life at the moment?‬
‭Absolutely,‬‭the‬‭Prophet‬‭Muhammad‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭himself‬‭was‬‭most‬‭moved‬‭by‬‭the‬
‭verses that reminded him of his responsibility. The verse in Surah An-Nisaa‬
‭and how it will be written says we bring forth a witness upon every nation,‬
‭and‬‭we‬‭bring‬‭you,‬‭O‬‭Muhammad‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭,‬‭as‬‭a‬‭witness‬‭upon‬‭them.‬‭He‬‭wept‬
‭profusely (S.A.W); he couldn’t even handle more of its recitation or the time‬
‭he spent the entire night reciting just one Ayah and crying.‬

‫‬‮ِإن‮‬ُتَعِّذْبُه ْم ‬‮َفِإَّنُه ْم ‮‬ِعَباُدَك ‬ۖ‮‬‮َو ِإن‮‬َتْغِفْر ‬‮َلُه ْم ‬‮َفِإَّنَك ‮‬َأنَت ‬‮ٱْلَعِز يُز ‬‮ٱْلَحِك يُم‬

I‭f you punish them, they belong to you after all. But if you forgive‬
‭them, you are surely the Almighty, All-Wise.‬

‭This is why you should read Surah Mulk!‬

‭ nd‬‭he‬‭was‬‭asked‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭about‬‭a‬‭man‬‭who‬‭used‬‭to‬‭recite‬‭Surah‬
A
‭Al-Ikhlaas at the end of his recitation in every single prayer, and when he‬
‭asked his companions to ask the man, Why he recites “Qul Hu Allahu Ahad”‬
‭so frequently. The man responded and said, Because it’s “Sifatur-Rehman”‬
‭because it’s a description of the most merciful. I love to read the description‬
‭of‬‭the‬‭most‬‭merciful.‬‭So‬‭the‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭said,‬‭Go‬‭back‬‭and‬‭tell‬‭that‬‭man‬‭that‬
‭Allah loves him because of his love for that surah. A person who is in‬
‭distress may find something extremely beautiful about Surah Yusuf.‬
‭Ar-Rahman and Surah Ya-Sin are dear to so many people. Then we start to‬
‭find‬‭the‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭talking‬‭about‬‭how‬‭particular‬‭Surahs‬‭benefit‬‭you‬‭in‬‭the‬
‭station, so he said to recite the‬‭Quran‬‭for all the‬‭days of resurrection; it will‬
‭come as an intercessor for its reciters.‬

‭ hen he said to recite the two brightly (illustrated chapters) like Surah‬

‭Al-Baqarah and Al-‘Imran.. He said, For on the day of resurrection, they will‬
‭come as if they were two clouds, two shades or two flocks of birds.‬
‭“TUHAJIANI ‘AN AS-HABIHIMA,” and they will be arguing on behalf of their‬
‭companions. Imagine a person walking on the day of judgment and‬
‭Al-Baqarah and Al-‘Iman are like two canopies, two flocks of birds, and two‬
‭clouds that are following you, and everyone is admiring and wishing they had‬
‭done so as well, wishing they had committed those Surahs to their memory‬
‭and‬‭acted‬‭upon‬‭them‬‭as‬‭well.‬‭That’s‬‭why‬‭the‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭said,‬

‭“Recite Surah Al-Baqarah, for doing so produces blessing in this life,‬

‭and abandoning it produces regret in the next life.”‬

‭ he‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭also‬‭mentioned‬‭some‬‭of‬‭these‬‭other‬‭short‬‭portions‬‭that‬‭we‬

‭recite‬‭on‬‭a‬‭daily‬‭basis.‬‭In‬‭another‬‭authentic‬‭hadith,‬‭the‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭said,‬

‭ Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi (ALLAHU LAA ILLAHA ILLA HU) after‬
“
‭every‬‭one‬‭of‬‭the‬‭prescribed‬‭prayers,‬‭the‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭said,‬‭“Nothing‬‭is‬
‭standing between him and his entrance into paradise, except for‬
‭death.”‬

‭ eaning it is guaranteed for him at that point that he’s going to enter into‬

‭Jannah. So we’ve covered Al-Baqarah, Al-‘Imran, and then Al-Ikhlass and‬
‭Ayatul Kursi. Now there is one more companion. This is what the scholars‬
‭say is the persistent intercessor and it is known as the Surah, that is,‬
‭Al-Maani’a, the preventer; it’s also Al-Munjiyah, the rescuer. And that’s Surah‬
‭Mulk,‬‭the‬‭Surah‬‭that‬‭the‬‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭said,‬

‭That the one who recites it every night will be protected from the‬
‭punishment of the grave, and some of the scholars said that it‬
‭prevents one from doing the deeds that warrant the punishment of the‬
‭grave, and its virtue and recitation itself prevent the punishment of‬
‭the grave.‬

‭ urah Mulk is the most beloved and powerful surah. So much so, that the‬

‭Prophet‬‫‬‮ﷺ‬‭said,‬

‭In another narration, there are 30 verses and one surah in the Quran‬
‭that will show up on the day of judgment.‬
 ‭Conclusion‬

‭ 0 verses and will intercede on behalf of its companion. In narration, he said,‬

‭“KHAASAMAI BISAHIBIHA.” It will continue to argue on behalf of its‬
‭companion, “HATTA YUHFARA LAHU,” until that person is certainly forgiven‬
‭by Allah (SWT). So, this Quran as much as it is shifa, is healing in this life.‬
‭It’s so much more for you in the next, and from the movement you enter your‬
‭grave to the movement of your entrance into paradise, all it keeps on‬
‭bringing is elevation, which is also true of the life that we live in now.‬
