Purpose –

This is further with reference to Warranty Information WI60114DZ already released in April 2014 on Horn
Tuning Procedure. This document supersedes above mentioned Warranty Information.

This Warranty Information is prepared to address points mentioned below:

 Provide information about Model-wise Vendors of Horn (Make) currently being used
 Guidelines for replacement of Horn in Warranty
 Horn Tuning procedure

3) Guidelines for Horn Replacement:

For Horns which are found to be defective below 5000 kms are not to be tuned & are to be sent to
Plant in as is condition for further investigation.
1. Care should be taken for proper dispatch of Horn so that it should not get damaged in transit
2. Horn should be dispatched with proper tag along with PCR copy
3. PCR number should be written on horn with permanent marker
4. Clear customer complaint should be mentioned in PCR description along with observations

For Horns failed after 5000 kms, they are to be checked and tuned first before conclusion
& if there is no improvement in sound then only warranty replacement has to be carried out.

5. Apart from above points, Current Values are also to be mentioned in PCR Description.

4) Horn Tuning Procedure:

Instruments required for Horn Tuning:

Fully charged vehicle Battery & Clamp-meter (if not available, Multi-meter can be used)

Note:
 Vehicle level Horn checking is recommended; i.e. Horn to be checked / tested in vehicle
mounted condition.
 If that is not possible, then Horn should be mounted on a Bench Vice and then to be checked /
tested. It should not be tested by holding in hand or keeping on a table / floor.

Procedure:
1. Blow the Horn & check Ampere Value (normal operating Amperage for an OK Horn should be
between 1.8 Amp to 3 Amp)
2. For distorted / improper sound complaint, rotate the Screw (in Clockwise or Anti-clockwise
direction depending upon the indications mentioned on Horn body) until sound is clear with
amperage value between 1.8 A to 3 A
3. If there is no improvement in sound even after Tuning, only then Horn replacement has to be
carried out and Amperage value is to be mentioned in PCR
