Stephanie Billib has handled press and public relations for the Lower
Saxony Memorials Foundation since 2009. She is the point of contact for
all press enquiries relating to the Bergen-Belsen Memorial and is respon-
sible for the public presentation of the Memorial. She has managed the
Memorial’s “Digital Strategies” project since 2014, and she also repre-
sents the Memorial in the research project known as “Accessing
Campscapes: Inclusive Strategies for Using European Conflicted Heritage
(iC-ACCESS)” in the context of the Humanities in the European Research
Area (HERA) programme of the EU. In connection with digital strate-
gies, she is working with the SPECS research group of Pompeu Fabra
University in Barcelona to develop database-driven applications for visitor
guidance, including a tablet application and a spatial application. Her
research areas are Hungarian prisoners in Bergen-Belsen and connecting
digital media and communication. She studied history as well as English
and American literature at the University of Hanover, earning a master’s
degree with a dissertation on Hungarian prisoners in the Bergen-Belsen
concentration camp. She began working in visitor support for the Bergen-
Belsen Memorial in 2000, and she has carried out translations, research
and interviews for the Research and Documentation department.
Maria Blancas, MSc, PhD is a UX Researcher and Learning Specialist at
Eodyne. After studying Communication Studies, she did a master’s degree
in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media. She then obtained a PhD in
Information and Communication Technologies, specialising in
educational technologies and self-evaluation during learning pro-

whom he has published more than 400 articles in leading journals and
conferences in a range of disciplines. Verschure is regularly invited as a
speaker at relevant scientific conferences and international policy events.
He is a consultant for the European Commission and board member of
three journals, and reviews for a number of relevant journals and confer-
ences. Verschure is Founder/CEO of Eodyne Systems S.L., which is com-
mercialising neurorehabilitation, education and cultural heritage
technologies; Founder/Chairman of the Future Memory Foundation;
and Founder/Chairman of the Convergent Science Network Foundation.
Victoria Grace Walden is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Director of
Learning Enhancement in the School of Media, Arts and Humanities;
member of the Weidenfeld Institute of Jewish Studies; and associate of the
Sussex Humanities Lab at the University of Sussex. She is Founder and
Editor-in-Chief of the Digital Holocaust Memory platform https://
reframe.sussex.ac.uk/digitalholocaustmemory/ and formally worked as
digital coordinator for the International Holocaust Remembrance
Alliance. Her research interests are in digital genocide memory and heri-
tage, and digital pedagogies. She has published on these topics in a num-
ber of journals, including Memory Studies, Holocaust Studies: A Journal of
Culture and History, Flow Journal, The Journal of Media Practice,
Animation Studies and Frames Cinema Journal. She has also been invited
to speak about digital Holocaust memory at academic, public and private
events in the UK, South Africa, the Netherlands, Germany, Israel, the US,
France and Norway. She is the author of Cinematic Intermedialities and
Contemporary Holocaust Memory (Palgrave Macmillan 2019) and editor
of The Memorial Museum in the Digital Age (REFRAME, forthcoming).
She has also served as an academic advisor to the Imperial War Museums,
London, and Forgotten Voices Foundation, Los Angeles.
Tabea Widmann is a doctoral student at the University of Konstanz. In
her dissertation ‘“The Game is the Memory”: A Memory Cultural Analysis
of Prosthetic Witnesses in Digital Games’ (working title), she focuses on
digital games as memory media and concepts of medialised testimony
concerning the Holocaust. Previously, she worked as an academic
staff member on the project MEMOZE, for which she participated in
the conceptualisation and content-related authoring of an internet
platform about medialised strategies of memory transfer and testi-
mony. She studied European Cultural History and Cultural Studies at the
universities in Augsburg and Konstanz with stays abroad at the Charles

University in Prague and the JNU in New Delhi. Her further interests are
imaginations of Europe and digital games.
Sytse Wierenga, MSc, MA is coordinator of Digital Heritage projects at
the Synthetic, Perceptive Emotive and Cognitive Systems group (SPECS)
at the Institute for Bioengineering Catalonia (IBEC). He trained in inter-
active media, cognitive systems and fine arts, and has several years’ experi-
ence working in cinema. He enjoys addressing projects with a deeply
cross-disciplinary perspective. He keeps his interests agile by making
music; studying biology, history or Asian cooking; or heading out to surf
the winds.
