DAY ONE Our Adventure Begins!


Our Emerald Coast adventure begins with a stop in the Land Between the Lakes region of Western Kentucky for dinner at Pattis 1880s Settlement. Opened in 1977 as a hamburger and ice cream parlor, Pattis has grown into a local institution serving a variety of great food, and is known for their award winning one-inch pork chop, which is charbroiled to perfection. Later, we continue to our hotel in Clarksville, Tennessee. Dinner

DAY THREE Plains, Georgia National Historic Site


Traveling south from Atlanta we make a stop in Plains, Georgia, a National Historic Site and home of former president Jimmy Carter. Well visit Plains High School which serves as the park museum and visitor center. Here, you will find restored and furnished classroom, principals office and auditorium. Later, we travel through Alabama before arriving on Floridas Emerald Coast, our home for the next three nights. Breakfast

DAY TWO Jimmy Carter and Mary Mac


Arriving in Atlanta we visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Here, youll see the extensive collection of photographs and historical memorabilia from the Carter presidency (1977 1981) as well as an exact replica of the Oval Office from the White House. You will also see the many gifts the Carters have received along with a display focusing on the Carters humanitarian work. Tonight we are treated to true Southern made-from-scratch fare served with genuine Southern hospitality at Mary Macs Tea Room. Since opening her doors in 1945 Mary McKenzies is the last of the 16 Tea Rooms that once dotted intown Atlanta in the 1940s. Mary Macs great tradition of Southern cuisine and warm hospitality has remained the same. Breakfast and dinner

DAY FOUR Touring on the Emerald Coast


We begin our touring today at the Destin History & Fishing Museum. Here, we learn the history of the region through the many displays and exhibits. The museum features an extensive example of the fish caught in the area and a large collection of antique fishing rods and reels including a split bamboo rod with Penn Reel which belonged to Ernest Hemingway. Youll also see the oldest seine fishing boat in existence, The Primrose, which was built in 1925 and learn why Destin is considered the Luckiest Fishing Village in the World. At the Air Force Armament Museum youll experience aviation warfare armament from the early days of World War I right through to todays high tech planes and bombs. Inside, youll find an extensive collection of weaponry and interactive displays that will

amaze and intrigue. Outside displays are highlighted by the fastest plane ever built, the SR-71 Blackbird. Tonight, dinner is at the Magnolia Grill of Fort Walton Beach. Located downtown Fort Walton Beach, Magnolia Grill is as much a dining room as it is a museum. The walls of this 1910 catalog house are covered with pieces of local history including pictures of the people and places that tell the many stories of the area. The owners Tom and Peggy Rice have handpicked the menu which includes selections from land or sea and features a cup of Toms gumbo whose raves have been heard all the way back to Louisiana. Breakfast and dinner be complete without a chance to get out on those beautiful emerald waters for which the region is named. Well climb aboard the M/V Southern Star, an 80-foot glass bottom boat specially designed for wildlife viewing and go in search of the coastal bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat. Experience the grace and beauty of these incredible marine mammals, enjoy scenic views of the Emerald Coast shoreline and relax on a leisurely two-hour cruise. This morning has been left free for you to enjoy. Relax by the pool, do some shopping in Destin Commons or walk across to Henderson Beach State Park where you can stroll the beautiful, powdery white sand beach and dip your toes in the crystal-clear waters. Today is a great day to spend some time in the newly restored Gaylord Opryland Resort. One way to see the property is by an included boat ride in the Delta Atrium. Thats right, be sure to step aboard a Mississippi-style Delta Flatboat and gently wind your way through the lush four-and-a-half acre indoor garden while your guide offers unique facts about the Deltas plants and fish. Today we visit Shiloh National Military Park, site of the Battle of Shiloh. Originally fought over two days in 1862, the battle of Shiloh saw Union General Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate General P .G.T. Beauregard wage what was the costliest battle of the war at the time, with well over 23,000 casualties incurred on both sides. An informative film describes the events of 1862, and costumed interpreters (when available) provide period demonstrations. Tonight, we overnight in Corinth, Mississippi. Box lunch

Today we are greeted by Gen. John Hunt Morgan and are invited to his Honeymoon Ball in beautiful Falcon Rest Mansion, aptly called Tennessees Biltmore. The town of Franklin was the scene of the five bloodiest hours of the American Civil War. Well visit Carnton Plantation and learn how this home was used as a field hospital for wounded Confederate soldiers while the battle raged around it. A stop at Carter House shows us a modest brick home, riddled with bullet holes. It was commandeered and used as a Federal command post. Here, we travel through time and learn about the people and the events surrounding the lake up to the present day. In the afternoon, we climb aboard the Victorian Princess for a leisurely sightseeing cruise through Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie. This morning we return to Holland and visit famous Windmill Island to see De Zwaan, a 240-year-old working windmill. You will have free time to explore Holland on your own. This afternoon we have reserved seating at the Muziekparade (Music Parade), where nearly 40 bands and as many floats, giant helium balloons, horses, Klompen Dancers and much more perform along the parade route to the delight of young and old. Just before dusk (weather permitting), the burners of nearly 500 balloons are ignited and the evening sky fills with a kaleidoscope of brilliant, luminous color. Set atop a mesa 350 feet above the desert floor is one of the oldest continuously occupied settlements in the United States, Acoma Sky City. A local guide shows us the still occupied homes. We visit Saint Stephens mission church, a national historic landmark. Then we make our way back to Albuquerque for a thrilling ride aboard the worlds longest aerial tramway. Today we travel into the Jemez Mountains to Bandelier National Monument. Bandeliers human history extends back for over 10,000 years when nomadic hunter-gatherers followed migrating wildlife across the mesas and canyons. The ancestors of modern Pueblo people built thriving communities in this area called Bandelier about 600 years ago. We visit Dead Horse Point State Park, which sits atop a 2,000-foot peninsula known for the herds of wild horses that once roamed here. Breakfast

Arches National Park contains the largest concentration of stone arches in the world. We begin our touring at Frank Lloyd Wrights Fallingwater, the masterpiece over the falls, built in 1935 and is dramatically cantilevered over a mountain waterfall. After lunch at the Fire Fly Grill, we visit Wrights Kentuck Knob, a fine example of organic architecture surrounded by a contemporary sculpture garden. Tonight, enjoy dinner while taking a sentimental journey with a musical revue from the 40s, 50s and 60s at the Sentimental Jukebox Journey. Breakfast, lunch and dinner

DAY THREE Laurel Highlands Touring


Step back to the 18th-century at Fort Ligonier where a guided tour shows us frontier life along with original memoirs of a young George Washington. Then we visit the Compass Inn Museum, an authentically restored 1799 stagecoach stop featuring costumed docents. Lunch today is at Our Coal Miners Caf Restaurant with home-style cooking and delicious desserts. Later, we pay our respects at the Flight 93 Memorial and stop at the QueCreek Mine Rescue Site to hear the story of this incredible rescue. This morning we board the New River Train at the Huntington C&O depot for a journey through some of West Virginias most beautiful autumn foliage scenery. The world-renowned New River Train only operates four times a year and follows the Kanawha River through the beautiful New River Gorge in southern West Virginia. One of the newest national parklands, the Grand Canyon of the East along the New River, is aglow in autumn colors and offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Landmarks and scenic locations along the tracks include Hawks Nest Dam and Bridge, Stretcher Neck Tunnel and Sandstone Falls. During the Cold War the United States government maintained a top-secret underground bunker in the mountains of West Virginia. Built beneath The Greenbrier, a luxurious Southern resort, the facility was designed to house the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate in case of nuclear attack. Compromised by an investigative reporter in 1993, the bunker is now open to the public. With the code name Project Greek Island, it remains a sobering reminder of how America lived with and prepared for the possibility of a Soviet nuclear attack. We follow the rugged shoreline of the Keweenaw Peninsula to the town of Copper Harbor. This was once the center of the copper mining in the region and was also a supply depot and gathering point for exploring parties. At the end of the Keweenaw Peninsula stands the Fort Wilkins Historic Complex, a well-preserved nineteenth-century military post and lighthouse complex. Later we come to Porcupine Mountains State Park for a stop at the Lake of the Clouds overlook. Located between two mountain ridges, the lake is surrounded by virgin wilderness and stunning vistas. Today we travel along the Bayfield Peninsula to Bayfield where we see the interesting architecture of the past century where the stately brownstones dominate the Historic District of this Victorian town. Membership
Tour membership is available to all travelers. If special requirements of an individual are requested, and these requirements add to the Tour Operator's cost, the Tour Member will be responsible to pay the additional costs. The Tour Manager retains the right to terminate the membership of any Member if any physical or mental handicap becomes apparent while on tour and causes hardship to the Tour Manager and/or other Tour Members. Children must be six years of age or older.

Guaranteed Share Program for Single Travelers


We make it easy for single travelers to reduce their tour costs with our Guaranteed Share Program. If you are traveling alone, are a non-smoker, and would like a roommate for cost savings, let us know at least 30 days before departure. You will be paired with another traveler of the same gender at the twin rate. If no roommate is available, you will get a single room yet only pay the twin price.

In common with other companies, Mayflower acts only as an agent for Tour Members in arranging room accommodations, transportation, sightseeing, admissions and restaurants. Roommate Cancellation
If you are booked as a twin and your roommate cancels their reservation, and you cannot find another roommate, you may either travel as a guaranteed share (see above) or travel as a single and pay the single supplement.

Health and Walking on Tour


Some sites visited have limited motorcoach access and may involve considerable walking, stairs or inclines. Travelers should be in reasonably good health. Some programs include destinations in higher elevations that may have varying effects on individual travelers. Tour Managers and Coach Drivers cannot lift or assist travelers into transportation vehicles. Mayflower Tours requires that persons requiring assistance be accompanied by a companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the assistance.

United States Tour Operators Association $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program


Mayflower Tours, Inc., shares the coverage available under the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program with affiliates of Mayflower Tours who, as an Active Member of the USTOA is required to post $1 Million with USTOA to be used to reimburse, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the USTOA Travelers Assistance Program, the advance payments of Mayflower Tours travelers in the unlikely event of Mayflower Tours bankruptcy, insolvency or cessation of business. Further, you should understand that the $1 Million posted by Mayflower Tours may be sufficient to provide only a partial recovery of the advance payments received by Mayflower Tours. Revision Fees

You will note that the first category includes an optional Cancellation Fee Waiver (CFW) which is to be paid within five business days after your reservation. Freedom to Travel Guarantee


On those rare occasions when the Exclusions mentioned above make it necessary to modify its Refund and Cancellation Policy, Mayflower's "Freedom To Travel" Guarantee will take effect for those passengers who purchased the Cancellation Fee Waiver. This Guarantee will allow travelers to apply all monies paid to Mayflower Tours, including the Cancellation Fee Waiver, toward any future Mayflower tour that departs within 12 months of their notification.

Refund and Cancellation Policy
All payments for land and cruise arrangements (less the deposit amount which is non-refundable) will be refunded when cancellations are made more than 30 days prior to departure. If you purchase the optional Cancellation Fee Waiver (CFW), you will be refunded all payments including the deposit amount, less the premium amount for the CFW provided we are notified of the cancellation prior to the day of departure. (NOTE: New England Autumn Cruise; American Adventure; Bahamas Cruise; and Western Caribbean Cruise terms and conditions are different, see ** below)

Cancellation Fee Waiver (CFW) Motorcoach Tours


To protect you against cancellation fees should you have to cancel your tour or interrupt your tour en route, we have added an optional $60 Cancellation Fee Waiver (CFW) in our deposit schedule. The CFW is non-refundable and non-transferable. The CFW cannot be transferred to another reservation, departure date or tour after booking has been made. Changing an existing booking to another date or tour will result in losing the CFW premium paid on the original booking. If you do not wish to purchase the CFW, simply deposit the without CFW amount. This nonrefundable fee waives all cancellation fees and penalties, provided we are notified of the cancellation one day before your tour departs. While on tour, if a passenger must leave early due to a personal illness, illness or death of a member of the immediate family or a traveling companion, the purchase of the Cancellation Fee Waiver guarantees full refund for any unused services. For motorcoach tours, return transportation will be provided (the mode of transportation will be determined at the discretion of Mayflower Tours.)The injury or sickness must be, in the written opinion of a physician, so disabling as to cause a trip to be interrupted and must require the care and attendance by a physician at the place of occurrence. This program has certain exclusions. Mayflower Tours reserves the right to alter its Refund and Cancellation Policy when a substantial amount of cancellation or postponement of travel is attributable to: conditions resulting from an act of God, natural or man-made disaster, fire, government action, civil disorder, war, hostilities between nations, or unavailability of transportation through no fault of Mayflower Tours. Freedom to Travel Guarantee - On those rare occasions when the Exclusions mentioned above make it necessary to modify its Refund and Cancellation Policy, Mayflower's "Freedom To Travel" Guarantee will take effect for those passengers who purchased the Cancellation Fee Waiver. This Guarantee will allow travelers to apply all monies paid to Mayflower Tours, including the Cancellation Fee Waiver, toward any future Mayflower tour that departs within 12 months of their notification. Cancellation Fee Waiver (CFW) is not an insurance. It is a self-funded refund and waiver program for cancellations and early departures from tour programs, and contains various exclusions. If actual insurance coverage is desired for occurrences such as travel delay; lost, stolen or damaged luggage; medical and emergency medical transportation; supplier default; or related services, then it is strongly recommended that a traveler contact a travel insurance company. It is also recommended if a traveler desires a trip cancellation refund program not funded by Mayflower Tours, that a travel insurance company be contacted. One firm offering some or all of these services is MH Ross Travel Insurance Plan (1-800-423-3632).
