“Greatest of all time”

As we all know, football is the most fantastic sport of all time. It brings the
whole world together. The most known players display their reputable talent, which
makes the fans go crazy. Football is the only sport that everyone wants to
appreciate—the phenomenal goal-making, dodging, kicking and then the victory
celebration. Buckle up; today, we will take you through all these greatest moments
of football history.
Before we start to dig into each one of them, let's understand how football works;
there are 2 teams of 11 players in total who play against each other, and whoever
maneuvers the most goals in the other team's net wins a dazzling trophy. Still,
when there is competition between the two most prominent players, Cristiano Ronaldo
and Lionel Messi, the question is who the GOAT is.
Both of the players have remarkably netted over 690 club goals, and the debate on
who is the best will forever be remembered and argued upon. Messi and Ronaldo came
against each other for a total of 36 times. So without any further wait, let’s get
right into it.

1. Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid, October 7th , 2012

This football match occurred in Camp Nou's stadium, which has been proven to be the
most iconic match. Messi as Barcelona and Ronaldo as Real Madrid scored 2-2 in a La
Liga fixture match. The stadium was full of 98,000 crazy fans chanting for their
teams. At the same time, Ronaldo continued his exceptional performance against his
rival Barcelona, whereas it wasn't a piece of cake because Barcelona gave their
100%.

Ronaldo hoped for his performance to bring his name up on the score sheet for the
5th consecutive time as he opened the score line by scoring during the 23rd minute.
Cleverly analyzing the target, Ronaldo kicked to mark a flawless goal in history.
Similarly, Messi equalized the score in the 31st minute, and This is how the first
half ended with a 1-1 draw for both teams.

Then after the halftime break, Messi helped Barcelona take the lead in the 61st
minute, but minutes later, Ronaldo equalized to hold back the Catalonians to a
fantastic draw.

2. Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid, April 21, 2012

This match again took place at the camp nou towards the end of the 11-12 season
this helped Real Madrid clinch the title as Ronaldo netted the winner late on in
the match which he celebrated gesturing to “calm down” towards his teammates and
the fans as this celebration remains iconic till this day. and surely Ronaldo was
going down in Real Madrids history books as he led them to the League title after
being there for 3 years only

3. Real Madrid 2-3 Barcelona, April 23, 2017

This is an All-time classic in recent history. The bernabeu was rocking as usual
and like most el clasicos during the messi and Ronaldo period this match was
indefinetly going to be a title deciding one Real Madrid took the lead inside 25
minutes but minutes later messi equalized. At half time it was 1-1 but all the
drama and thrill came in the 2nd half as Real Madrid got a red card in the 77th
minute to Sergio Ramos and then boom in injury time Messi calmly slotted the ball
inside real Madrids net to win the Catalonians the match by 3-2. After the winner
messi celebrated with arguably his most iconic celebration as he took of his shirt
and pointed it towards the fans insinuating to remember his name. Although this
match kept barcas title hopes alive real Madrid still went on to win the league
that season.

4. Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid, Nov. 29, 2010 (La Manita)

This was a historic humbling that Real Madrid received at the hands of Barcelona in
2010 in the camp nou stadium. Pre game there was a lot of talk for this match to be
a proving ground for both messi and Ronaldo as the debates were going on between
both sets of fans as to who’s better as both have won the balon dor at this point
in their careers. The game ended with Barcelona thrashing Real Madrid and although
messi and Ronaldo both didn’t score messi played a pivotal role in Barcas win as he
set up 2 goals by himself

5. Barcelona 1-3 Real Madrid, August 13, 2017

The Spanish super cup final was set be an El Clasico. A revengeful Ronaldo and
Madrid looked to take down messis Barcelona as just 4 months prior Barca pipped
real to the title. The first goal was an own goal by Gerard pique which gave Madrid
the lead Messi qualised in the 71st minute making it 1-1 but Ronaldo then who was
substituted on the pitch earlier scored a few minutes after coming on helping Real
to win the match by 3 goals to 1. Although Ronaldo was sent off in the game due to
2 yellows
6. Riyadh XI 4-5 PSG, January 19th, 2023
At this point in time both Ronaldo and messi are certainly past their primes as
Ronaldo has left Europe to play in saudia Arabia for a local club Al-Nassr. If this
meeting between the goats of football was to be the last one it certainly lived
upto the hype and expectations as this friendly match between psg and the Riyadh
allstars was an all timer. Psg undoutbely being the favourties heading towards the
game as they started there all firing super charged front 3 of messi mbappe and
neymar as they looked to put on a show for the local crowd. Messi opened the
scoring early on only for Mr bigtime Cristiano Ronaldo to equalize it to 1-1. Psg
again took the lead and yet again Ronaldo equalized and the game was turning into a
thriller. The game then went on and psg won 5 goals to 4 as both Ronaldo and messi
were substituted of the pitch near the 60th minute mark. Ronaldo won man of the
match for his superb performance and even when he has been exiled from European
football he certainly proved his doubters to be wrong yet again

An amazing stat suggests that in the nine year period that both messi and Ronaldo
were in spain there hasn’t been a single goalless clasico between both sides

Box office, guaranteed.

Here are a few stats and accolades both sets of players have accumulated throughout
their careers

Ronaldo :
5x champions league winner
5x ballon d'or winner
2x laliga titles
3x English premier league titles
2x Italian titles
1x European cup with Portugal
1x nations league cup with Portugal

All in All Ronaldo has won 34 major trophies for club and country throughout his
career which is truly mind blowing. Along side his individual acheivements like
golden boots and various records like being the highest scorer in champions league
there is no doubt that Ronaldo has a undisputable legacy and he certainly fits the
criteria to be called a Goat

Messi:
4x champions league winner
7x ballon d'or
1x World cup winner with argentina
1x copa America winner with argentina
10x laliga titles
1x Olympic gold medal winner with argentina

Messi too just like Ronaldo has incredible acheivements throughout his career
winning his country the world cup only recently after 1986 which is an incredible
achievement to say the least he has also won the most ballon d’or by a single
player and his trophies and individual accolades certainly puts him in the goat
debate aswell alongside Ronaldo and legends like Pele and maradona

Messi and Ronaldo, since they have started football they were a forced rivalry
whilst as both respect each other and appreciate the fact that without the
competition from one and another neither would have been this good. Ronaldo has
scored 819 career goals while messi has scored 790 goals in his career but messi
does have a better goals per minute ration and he is also significantly younger
than Ronaldo.

If you ask my personal opinion on who’s the goat, I’d say its impossible to choose
as both superstars have provided so much to the modern game that its unfair for one
of them to be hailed with this title football is a world sport and is looked at by
each individual differently for some Ronaldo might edge it and for some messi might
be the best but what cant be denied is that both footballers are certainly one of
the greatest evers to touch the football pitch as there careers and acheivements
showcase that. This will forever be a fierce and unsettled debate and slowly but
surely as both Ronaldo and messis career is coming to an end we should just
appreciate that we as football fans have witnessed such greatness as its very
likely that the world might not produce superstars of such caliber ever again
