Inverse Laplace Transform
If F(s) is given then to obtain f(t) is called inverse Laplace Transform.

Definition of inverse Laplace Transformation:

If F(s) be any function , then inverse Laplace transformation is denoted by L−1[ F ( s )]

and defined as
L−1[ F ( s )] = f (t )

where L[ f (t )] =  e − st f (t )dt = F ( s )
0

Provided the integral exist where s is any parameter.

The inverse Laplace transform is very useful from the application point of view. Now we
will see some examples on computing inverse Laplace transform.

Some Important results/formulas: L[ f (t )] =  e − st f (t )dt = F ( s )
0

Therefore L−1[ F ( s )] = f (t )

Important Note: Please note that all the formulas, theorems and properties of Laplace Transform
are also applicable in Inverse Laplace Transform but we have to apply them in reverse order
very carefully.

Some results for Inverse Laplace Transform: for example we know from shifting theorem:

If L[f(t)] = F(s), L[e at f (t )] = F ( s − a )

Then for Inverse Laplace Transform:
