HOW TO OPEN REELS AND/OR

STORIES TO START CREATING

To create a reel OR a story, head to your home screen on IG and

tap the + sign on the top right corner. This will pull up menu to
create different features. To create a story click on story and to
create a reel tap reel as shown below.

app feels to navigate, and the quicker content creation becomes!

When creating reels and stories, effects are “filters” that can
be applied to your images and videos to make them appear
to have a different EFFECT.

These icons at the bottom of stories are

saved and suggested effects you can use.
 HOW TO SAVE EFFECTS

When creating reels and stories, effects are “filters” that can
be applied to your images and videos to make them appear
to have a different EFFECT.

IN REELS:

To save effects from

reels, upload the
image or video you
are going to use, tap
on the sparkle icon,
then tap the
magnifying glass.
Then type in the
effect you are looking
for. Once you find the
effect you are looking
for, tap the bookmark
icon to save it.
HOW TO SAVE EFFECTS

IN STORIES:

Open stories and tap camera,

To search an effect you.
haven’t used before, you
need to be in live camera
mode. Swipe the circle at the
bottom all the way to the
right until you find the
magnifying glass. Tap on that
icon. Then tap the next
magnifying glass and type in
the effect name you are
looking for. Once you find it,
tap the bookmark icon. Exit
out and re-open stories. Now
when you add your photo or
video, the recently saved
effect will appear at the
bottom!
 TOP USED EFFECTS
and fun ones to try!

Each of these top used effects is directly linked to

the effect in Instagram! Just tap the effect you’d
like to use below!
 TROUBLESHOOTING EFFECTS

Saved effect not appearing:

When you save an effect (by clicking
the bookmark icon) it may not appear
right away in your saved effects. If it
doesn’t appear right away give it
about 10 - 120 minutes. It can take
sometime for it to appear. If you’ve
given it time and the effect is still not
appearing in your saved effects in
stories, head to reels, tap the effects
icon and search for the effect you
were wanting to use. Apply the effect,
save the photo or video (using the
downward arrow on the top right
corner) you just created, and then
head back to stories to finish what you
were wanting to create.

Can’t find certain effects:

If you can’t find or use an effect:
search for effect in both reels & stories
restart the app
make sure your app is up to date

If it still isn’t appearing know that it may be the type of phone you have, or even
location. Unfortunately, Instagram does roll out different features to different phone
types.
 STICKERS IN INSTA

Stickers allow you to personalize your reels and stories,

create engagement, and really showcase YOUR brand.

From the seach bar you can search for

common words such as “click” “new post”
“happy” etc. and stickers will populate.

CREATE YOUR OWN STICKERS AKA “CUTOUT”

OPTION 1: COPY/PASTE FROM CAMERA ROLL

(iPhone only)

Open your camera roll in iPhone and grab the photo you want
to create a sticker from. Long press on the phone until “copy”
appears, tap copy. Head back IG Stories to paste the sticker.
Tap Aa in stories, then long hold until Paste appears. Tap Paste
and your sticker will be pasted into stories.

OPTION 2: CUTOUT IN INSTAGRAM

Open stories, select stickers, tap “cutout.” Select the photo you want
to cutout, then in your story select “use sticker” and it will paste on
your story.

 STICKERS IN CANVA

CREATE TRANSPARENT OVERALY

In stories you can create an overlay for photos by tapping on
the three dots, select draw, tap the highlighter (middle) pen,
select a color and long hold on the screen.

Android Users: This option doesn’t work for Android, so we’ve

created these overlays for you! Save these images to your
camera roll (make sure you select transparent background
when saving.) Then you can add these over your images in
stories!

*Note: you will need to save both the gray and white overlay in the template to get both of these effects.
Be sure to save them as transparent backgrounds.
