AFTER START
 Ammeter -- CHARGING

 Flaps – UP
 Brakes and Instruments – CHECK (while taxiing)

RUN UP
 Brakes – ON
 Propeller Area – CLEAR (away from loose gravel)
 Throttle – 1700 RPM
 Oil Press/Temp – CHECK
 Suction – CHECK
 Magnetos – CHECK (max drop 125 RPM, max differential 50 RPM)
 Carburetor Heat – CHECK
 Throttle – CHECK MIN IDLE, THEN 1000 RPM

BEFORE TAKEOFF
 Flight Controls – FREE & CORRECT
 Flight Instruments – CHECK & SET Take-Off Briefing:
 Fuel Selector – BOTH  Winds
 Flaps – 0° (Normal), 10° (Short/Soft/Rough)  Runway
 Mixture – RICH (below 3000 feet)  Speeds
 Throttle Friction Lock – ADJUST  Departure Procedure
 Elevator Trim – CHECK & SET  Abort Point
 Seats, Belts, Cabin – SECURE  Emergency Procedures
 Take-Off Briefing – COMPLETE
