Benefits of Being a Christian

Ephesians 1:3

INTRO: When we are looking for a job, we first look if we are a good fit for the job. Then we look at the
benefits of having that job. We look to see if they have a good medical plan, 401k, vacation time off,
etc. When we become a Christian, we often Passover the benefits of being a follow of Jesus Christ.
Sometimes we allow Satan to rob us of those benefits. John 10:10 10 The thief comes only to steal and
kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. San Juan 10:1010 El ladrón
no viene sino para hurtar y matar y destruir; yo he venido para que tengan vida, y para que la tengan
en abundancia.
Today, let us think about how blessed we are to believe in Jesus Christ, and be a part of the Lord’s
kingdom on earth which is the church.

PROP.- Benefits of being a Christian.

1 - We have help for daily living/Tienemos un sostento para cada dia
2 - We have provision for our needs/El provee para nuestro necesidades
3 - We have confidence for death/La confianza que temenos despues del muerte

I. WE HAVE HELP FOR DAILY LIVING

Ephesians 1:3 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the
heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Once we accept the Lord, God gives us the Holy Spirit to guide us in our daily lives. He is there to help us
when we need to make important decisions and not so important decisions.

Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take
my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for
your souls.”

We need the Lord’s comfort, peace and rest in life, but we also need help with raising our children, with
our marriages, with our work, and our relationships. God can help us with all these and more if we will
seek Him and seek His guidance in His Word.

II Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Scriptures teaches us how-to live-in Christ. The more we get in the Word, the better off we’ll be in
life no matter what we’re dealing with.

II. WE HAVE PROVISION FOR OUR NEEDS

Ephesians 1:6-10 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches
of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he[c] made known to us
the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into
effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under
Christ.

One of the benefits of a Christian is that God will always provide for our needs. He will never leave us to
be on our own. Just when we least expect it he will provide for us what we need for that day.

1. God gives us a plan when we are in need.

a. Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these
things shall be added to you.” Mateo 6:33 33 Mas buscad primeramente el reino
de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
b. God wants us to seek his guidance first not last. Pray first, not last
2. We always need to remember not live beyond our means. Tienemos que recordar de que no
debemos vivir de mas que tienemos en nuestro finanzas.
Someone said, “It’s not the high cost of living that is the problem. It’s the cost of high living that
is the problem.” Alguien dijo, “El problema no es el alto costo de vida. El problema es el costo de
la vida alta".

3. When I was going to graduate from Seminary had to make sure we were all paid up. Once I
didn’t owe anything, I was happy.

II Corinthians 9:6-8 “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever
sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your
heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to
bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in
every good work.”

III. WE HAVE CONFIDENCE FOR DEATH

11
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who

works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who
13
were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also
were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy
14
Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who
are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Another benefit of being a Christian is the assurance of where we are going after we die.

1. Probably one of the greatest fears that all people experience is death. Most people fear death,
either death or how they will die. But there is another fear that should be associated with death:
a fear of having to face God. Are you afraid to face God in death?
2. ILL. - A little girl had the right spirit and said, “I go to church every Sunday so that when they
carry me in one day, the Lord won’t ask, ‘Who is it?’”
3. Christ and the church are good places to prepare for death. In fact, the only place to prepare for
leaving this world. And Christ died to bring the church into existence. Had He not gone to the
cross, bearing our sins in His body, there would be no church! There would be no churches
talking about God in any form and preaching Jesus as the Savior of the world! There is no hope
for any better life or eternal life outside of Jesus!
4. I John 4:16-18 “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how
love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In
this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because
fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Do you have confidence for the day of judgment? If not, you can. How can we have confidence for
facing death and the judgment? If we believe in God and we put our trust in Christ, we have the
assurance of where we are going after death.

Ephesians 2:8-10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s
handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to
do.”

We are not saved by our good works or good deeds, but we do good in this world because we are saved!
Because we have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through faith and obedience. And because we
walk with Christ daily, communing with Him, praying and praising Him, we have no fear of death nor of
facing God. He became sin for us, and we became righteous in God’s presence. And it’s all because of
Him!

CONCLUSION:

Being a Christian has many benefits. These are just a few of them. There is also the benefits of the
power of prayer, strength, protection, healer, and etc. The most important thing to remember is to have
a relationship with Jesus Christ, and to continue to read his word for guidance. We can always live in
peace with Him. her worldly neighbors. "Granny," they said, "who's the most honored guest you've ever
entertained in your home?" They expected her to say it was Jesus, for despite their constant ridicule of
her Christian witness, they recognized her deep faith.
