FORMAL INVITATIONS
CARD-TYPE INVITATIONS

• It is written in the third person and in the simple present tense.

• The invitation is to be enclosed in a box.
• Date of writing the invitation should not be written.
• The first sentence announces the name of the host, the event and the
time, date and venue.
• The second sentence provides information about the Chief Guest. (if any)
• RSVP (French: répondez s'il vous plaît, which means "Please reply”) is
written below on the left side with name(s), address and phone number
of the host(s).
• A variety of fonts and font sizes may be used to make the design more
appealing.

FORMAL CARD TYPE REPLIES

• It is written in the third person perspective (They/their/he/she/his/her)

• Format – Formal letter type
• Reference to the invitation
• Expressing gratitude
• Confirmation of event, time, date and venue.
• Mention acceptance/refusal (It is essential to give a reason for refusing
an invitation and also include greetings like ‘Best Wishes’ in case you are
declining.)
• Word limit – 50 words
• The reply is to be enclosed in a box.
