4. smagritoh
5. psotcatrelt

Learners:
1. pie chart - A pie chart is a circular graph showing parts of a whole,
each section representing a proportion. It's great for visualizing
percentages and comparing categories.
2. bar graph – A bar graph uses rectangular bars to represent data,
with each bar corresponding to a category and its length indicating the
value. It's ideal for comparing quantities between different categories
visually.
3. line graph - A line graph displays data points connected by lines,
showing trends or changes over time. It's useful for illustrating
patterns and relationships between variables.
4. histogram - A histogram represents the distribution of numerical
data by organizing it into bins and displaying the frequencies of
occurrences within each bin as vertical bars. It's commonly used to
show the frequency distribution of continuous data and identify
patterns or trends.
5. scatter plot - A scatter plot displays individual data points on a two-
dimensional graph, with one variable plotted on the x-axis and another
on the y-axis. It's useful for visualizing the relationship between two
variables and identifying patterns or correlations.

Teacher: You are going to use some of these graphs in the next
activity.
During/Lesson Proper
Reading the Key Teacher: You are going to read a text, then you will answer questions.
Idea/Stem

learners enough time to read the text.)

Violence Against Women

Violence against women is a big problem in the Philippines

women aged 15-49 have been hurt physically, sexually, or emotionally
by their partners. There were many reports of physical violence, rape,
and other sexual crimes. In 2022, the percentage of women who
experienced violence in different regions of the Philippines were: 13.4%
in National Capital Region (NCR), 19.8% in Cordillera Administrative
Region (CAR), 25% in Region 1, 17.5% in Region 2, 17% in Region 3,
13.9% in Region IVA, 23.7% in Region IVB, 26.5% in Region V, 18.7%
in Region VI, 18.6% in Region VII, 22.9% in Region VIII, 20.7% in
Region IX, 15.3% in Region X, 20.7% in Region XI, 14.5% in Region XII,
20.2% in CARAGA, and 5.6% in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in

Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). This happens because many people

believe men should be in charge and women should be supporters,
which leads to men controlling women. There are laws to protect
women, but many cases are not reported because victims feel ashamed
or don't trust the justice system. The government and other
organizations are working to help, and there's hope that things will get
better if these efforts continue.

Developing Teacher: To check your understanding of the text, let's have an

Understanding of the activity.

Question for Integration

Reading Skills
3. Name the regions where more than 20% of women experienced
violence in 2022.
Answer: CAR (19.8%), Region IVB (23.7%), Region VIII (22.9%), Region
IX (20.7%), Region XI (20.7%), CARAGA (20.2%).

Health
3. Based on this data on the percentage of women who have
experienced violence, what social issue is implicated?

Possible Answer: The data on the percentage of women experiencing

violence highlights the significant social issue of gender-based
violence and inequality in the Philippines. It shows that many
women face physical, sexual, or emotional harm from their
partners, reflecting broader problems in society where some
people believe men should dominate and control women.

Peace and Values Education

4. How can schools and community programs help change how people
think about boys and girls role to stop violence against women?

Possible Answer: Schools can teach boys and girls that they are equal
and should help each other. Community programs can show parents
and families how important it is to treat boys and girls the same. By
teaching everyone to respect each other, we can stop violence against
women.

(The teacher will facilitate the presentation)

Questions for Integration

Reading Skills
3. Which region had the highest percentage of women experiencing
violence in 2022?

Answer: Region V, with 26.5%.

Health Education
4. What are the possible effects on women who have experienced
violence?

Possible Answer: The possible effects on women who have experienced

violence can be very serious. They might feel scared, sad, or anxious all
the time. They could have trouble sleeping or eating and might get
physically hurt or sick. Some women may also lose confidence and find
it hard to trust people. These effects can make it difficult for them to go to
work or school and live a happy life. It is important to support and help
these women so they can heal and feel safe again.

Peace and Values Education

5. The text says that the government and other organizations are
working together to solve the issue of violence against women. What
can they do to stop violence against women and achieve gender
equality?

Possible answer: The government and organizations can do several

things to stop violence against women and achieve gender equality.
They can run programs in schools and communities to teach everyone
that men and women are equal and should be treated with respect.
Creating more safe places like shelters where women can go if they are
hurt and need help is also important. Strengthening laws against hurting
women and ensuring that people who break these laws are punished
can make a big difference. Training police officers and other helpers to
be kind and supportive when women report being hurt will help women
feel safe and believed. Encouraging more women to be leaders in the
community and in government can show that women can be in charge
too. By doing these things, the government and organizations can help
make sure women are safe and treated equally.

(The teacher will facilitate the discussion.)

After/Post-Lesson Proper
Making Teacher: Why is a bar graph the most appropriate type of graph to
Generalizations and represent the percentage of women who experienced violence in
Abstractions different regions of the Philippines compared to other types of graphs?
(3 minutes)
Learners: A bar graph is the best type of graph to show the percentage
of women who experienced violence in different regions of the
Philippines because it uses bars represent categorical data for each
region. Each bar's height corresponds directly to the percentage of
women affected in that region, making it easy to compare which
regions have higher or lower rates of violence at a glance. This clear
visual representation helps us see the differences between regions more
easily than other types of graphs, like pie charts or line graphs, which
7
LESSON SCRIPT IN MATHEMATICS 7

may not effectively show categorical data for multiple regions as

directly or clearly.

Teacher: Why are different types of graphs important for showing

information, even when there are reading materials that provide
information?

Learners: Different types of graphs are important because they show

information in a way that's easier to understand than just reading
words. They use pictures like bars or lines to show numbers or how
things compare. It helps us see patterns and differences quickly
without having to read a lot of text.
Teacher: For your final activity, please complete the worksheet I will
provide.

(The teacher will distribute the worksheet)

Direction:
Create an infographic that visually represents data from the 2022
National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) conducted by the
Philippine Statistics Authority. The data reveals that 17.5% of Filipino
women aged 15-49 have encountered physical, sexual, or emotional
violence from their intimate partners. Additionally, in 2021, there were
8,399 reported cases of physical violence, 1,791 cases of rape, and
1,505 acts of lasciviousness.
