7. Conclusion
The Marshall Test is useful for learning how to prepare, compact, condition, and test
asphalt specimens base on ASTM-D1559 standard even though the result have some error
during processing. The test helped to understand the effects of different asphalt contents and
aggregate gradations on the stability and flow of the mix. The Marshall test is a confined test
where the confinement is attributed to the curved shape of the testing heads.
By determining the optimum asphalt content, engineers can achieve maximum mix
strength with minimal deformation from axle loads and the test also showed how to use the
Marshall stability and flow values to plot the stability-flow curve.

8. Discussion
A few problems with sample 1's test include the timing of the compacted material, which
we had to do by hand because of a machine fault from the prior TP. Consequently, we found
that each specimen had limited stability, particularly sample 1 (4.5%).

TP 9: PROCTOR TEST

1. Introduction
In this test, engineers can ensure proper compaction of soil used in construction projects
like foundations, roads, and embankments. This helps to Increase the soil's strength and
stability, Reduce the risk of settlement and cracking, improve drainage, and prevent water
infiltration

2. Objective
In general, in road construction, we need to compact soil first before starting to work on
the pavement. To do this we have to know how much water content is to be added to provide the
maximum soil density (well compacted). So, this experiment is to determine the maximum dry
density (MDD) with the optimum moisture content (OMC).

3. Equipment and Materials
