IIT entrance results came,Murthy met his
father. Write a possible conversation between
Murthy and his father,depending on the
context taking the references from your lesson.
Murthy: Good morning Dad.
Father : Good morning son, You are looking
very happy today . What is the matter?
Murthy: Dad, my IIT result has come.
Father: Oh! What is your result?
Murthy: I have passed with a high rank
Father : Hearty congratulations, my son. Keep
it up
Murthy: Thank you, dad. All my friends are
going to join IIT. What do you say about my
joining?
Father : I am sorry son, I cannot afford the
expenses of IIT.
Murthy : Why can’t you afford the expenses?
Father: I am a salaried person. I have five
daughters to be married off and three sons to
educate.
Murthy: Then what should I do, dad?
Father: Don’t worry. I know you are a bright
boy. You can stay at Mysore and study as much
you want.
Murthy : OK, dad. I will try my best.
Father: God bless you my son.

entrance results came, Murthy met his father. Imagine

Dear Diary,
I cannot forget today in my life, because I have got a
high rank in IIT examination. I feel happy as my dreams
are coming true. All my friends, relatives and the
members of my family congratulated me for getting a
high rank in IIT .But I was disappointed when I
approached my father with my results. My father
appreciated me but he expressed his helplessness to
afford the expenditure at IIT. He asked me to understand
the reality and study as much as I want at Mysore. It
seemed my dreams had burnt to ashes. But I have to
understand the reality and try to prove myself studying
at Mysore. I hope I will have the blessings of God in
fulfilling my dreams.
Narayana Murthy
Narayana Murthy who is the con of the IT industry.
Now think that you are a news reporter and got an
opportunity to interview him. Now write an
imaginary interview between the news reporter and
Murthy. The interview should include the personal
details of Narayana Murthy, his aspirations and
hardships he faced to become a successful man in his

Reporter : Good morning.
Murthy: Very Good morning. Who are you?
Reporter: I am a news reporter from “The Hindu’.
Murthy: OK. Nice to meet you. What can I do for you?
Reporter: I want an interview with you to publish in our
newspaper.
Murthy: OK. Let’s start.
Reporter: Thank you. Please tell us something about
your schooling.
Murthy : I had my schooling in Mysore. I enjoyed my
school days along with my friends. It was a memorable
thing.
Reporter: What about your parents?
Murthy: My father was a school teacher and my
mother was a housewife.
Reporter: Can you tell us an incident which made you
disappointed?
Murthy: Yes, the incident which made me
disappointment happened after my high schooling.
Though I passed the IIT entrance exam with high rank, I
could not go to IIT as my father could not afford the
expenses there. It was my dream then.
Reporter : Then, how did you reach your goal?
Murthy :My father advised me to do my best studying
in Mysore. He gave me support at home to work hard
and reach my goal.
Reporter: What kind of student were you when you
were young?
Murthy: I was a bright student. I used to solve the
problems of my friends easily. I guided many of my
friends.
Reporter: How do you feel about your present
position?
Murthy : I am happy and satisfied with my position
because I was able to become an icon of the IT industry.
Reporter: What are your future plans?
Murthy : I want to expand our company across the
world and create many opportunities to the youth.
Reporter: What is your message to the youth of the
country ?
Murthy : Believe in knowledge. It will give you power
