HADITH

THE MAN WHO KILLED 99 PEOPLE

• "There was a man from among a nation before you who killed ninety-nine people and
then made an inquiry about the most learned person on the earth. He was directed to a
monk. He came to him and told him that he had killed ninety-nine people and asked
him if there was any chance for his repentance to be accepted. He replied in the
negative and the man killed him also completing one hundred.
• He then asked about the most learned man in the earth. He was directed to a scholar.
He told him that he had killed one hundred people and asked him if there was any
chance for his repentance to be accepted. He replied in the affirmative and
asked, `Who stands between you and repentance? Go to such and such land; there
(you will find) people devoted to prayer and worship of Allah, join them in worship,
and do not come back to your land because it is an evil place.’
• So he went away and hardly had he covered half the
distance when death overtook him; and there was a
dispute between the angels of mercy and the angels of
torment. The angels of mercy pleaded, ‘This man has
come with a repenting heart to Allah,’ and the angels of
punishment argued, ‘He never did a virtuous deed in his
life.’ Then there appeared another angel in the form of a
human being and the contending angels agreed to make
him arbiter between them. He said, `Measure the
distance between the two lands. He will be considered
belonging to the land to which he is nearer.’ They
measured and found him closer to the land (land of
piety) where he intended to go, and so the angels of
mercy collected his soul”. [Al Bukhari and Muslim]

THE STORY OF THE HAIRDRESSER AND
PHAROAH
• There was a woman called mashitat Fir’aun. She was a woman who was the hairdresser of Pharaoh’s
daughter. She had embraced Islam in secret. And when she was combing the hair of the daughter of
Pharaoh, the king, the one who said he is a god, the comb fell to the ground, and then she automatically
subconsciously picked up the comb and said, “bismi Allah” (in the name of Allah).
• This hairdresser had five children and one of them was still breastfeeding. And then the daughter of
Pharaoh said: “Are you saying Allah, do you mean my father?” She replied and said: “No! Allah the God of
your father and yourself and me.”
• And she became angry. She went to her father and said to him “Father, this woman worships another god
beside you.” He said: “What? She knows another god beside me? Who is that? Call her to me.” And they
called her to him. Then she came and stood in front of this great Pharaoh, and he said to her: “Who is
your God?” She replied and said: “Allah is my Lord.” and He said: “Who is Allah?” She said: “Allah is my
God and yours.”
• He said: “What? Bring the chains.” so they then brought the chains and
they began to punish her and whip her. “Who is your Lord?” said the
pharaoah again. And the hairdresser would say: “Allah is my God and
your Lord.” So he ordered for them to bring a large container, like a
swimming pool, and then he spilled hot boiling oil into it. And then he
said: “Bring me all of her children.” And they brought them one by one.
And the pharoah said: “Worship me, I am your god!” She
said:“Never.”So he brought her first son and he threw him into the oil in
front of her eyes his meat and his flesh fell off his body, and then his
bone disintegrated. Then they brought her next son and she was firm,
and they burned him. She could not stop him.
Miracle of Allah SWT
• And then her third, and then her fourth, then finally her fifth, he was on her arm, and she was
about to pull back in front of the eyes of all the people, when all of a sudden, Allah subhanahu
wa ta’ala, from above seven skies made her infant speak while he was in the cradle. He said:
“Be patient my mother! You are on the truth. Allah has promised you with the great heaven.
Keep going mother.” And then they threw her son into the boiling oil, and then she was next.
She knew that she was going to die. And then she began to cry and Pharaoh said: “Why are you
crying?”
• She said: “I am crying because I want to ask you to do something for me, I don’t know if you
will do it.” He said: “Ask me of whatever you like.” She said: “Once you throw me into the oil,
then I want you to gather whatever is remaining of our bodies, and I want you to bury us
together in the same grave because I want to be resurrected with my children, and I wanted to
go to Jannah with my children, I don’t want them to go out of my arms.”
• And she knew what this life was, and what the hereafter was.

THE STORY OF BARSISA
• There was a pious worshipper of the tribe of Israel. He was the most pious person of his time.
During his time, there were three brothers who had a sister. She was a virgin. And they had no sister
other than her. They were all about to leave the town to go to war. They did not know with whom to
leave their sister and who they could trust to look after her. They all agreed to leave her with that
pious person. They all trusted him. They went to him and asked if they could leave her with him. She
would be in the building next to him until they return from the fighting. He refused their request
and sought refuge in Allah from them and their sister. They persisted until he finally acquiesced. He
said, “Put her in the house next to my place of worship.” so they put her in that home and they left,
leaving her there. She remained living next to that pious person for some time. He would put food
for her in front of his building of worship. Then he would lock the door and return to his place of
worship. He would then tell her to come out of her house and take the food. Then Shaytan
approached him softly. He encouraged him to treat her kindly. He told him that it was not good to
make the woman come out of her house during the day as someone may come upon her. If he took
the food directly to her door that would mean a greater reward for him.
He continued for some time to go to her door and place the food at the front of her door without
speaking to her. Then Iblees came again and encouraged him to do good and get more reward. He
said, “If you took her the food and placed it in the house for her, you would get a greater reward.”
He continued to encourage him. So he started to take the food into her house. He continued like
that for some time.
Then Iblees came again and again encouraged him to do good. He said, “If you talk to her for a
while she will be put to ease by your conversation as she is in a state of fear and she is all alone.”
He then started talking to her from atop his place of worship.
Then Iblees came again. He said, “If you were to come down and talk to her while she sits at her
door and talks to you, that would be even more comforting for her.” He continued to encourage
him until he came down and sat at his door and would talk to her. The girl would come out of her
building and sit at her door and they would talk for a while.
Then Iblees came again and encouraged him to get great rewards for treating her well. He said,
“If you were to go from the door of your place of worship and sit close to her door, that would be
even more comforting for her.” He continued exhorting him until he did so. He continued that act
for a while. Then Iblees came again. This time he said, “If you enter her house and talk to her,
and not make her show her face in public it would be even better for you.” He continued
exhorting him until he entered her house and spent the whole day talking to her. Then when
night fell, he returned to his place of worship.
Then Iblees came to him after that and continued to make her more appealing to him. Until the worshipper got upon
her and kissed her. And Iblees continued to make her look nice in his eyes and desire her until he finally had
committed zina with her. She got pregnant and gave birth to a boy. Then Iblees came and told the worshipper, “Do you
not realize what the brothers of the girl will do to you when they see she has given birth to your son” You will not be
safe if your matter becomes clear. You should go to the boy and kill it and bury it, that way you can conceal your affair
and they will not do anything to you for what you did to her.” Then he said to him, “Do you think she will conceal from
her brothers what you did to her and your killing of her son. Take her, kill her and bury her with her son.” He
continued spurring him on until he killed her and threw her in the ditch with her son. Then he put a large rock over
them and leveled it.
Then he returned to his place of worship and worshipped therein. He stayed in that state for as long as Allah willed
until the brothers came back from the fighting. They came to him and asked him about their sister. He mourned her
loss and started to cry. He said, “She was the best of women and that is her grave.” The brothers came to the grave and
cried over their sister and asked Allah to have mercy on her. They stayed at her grave for a few days and then went to
their families. When the night overtook them and they went to their beds, Shaytan came to them in their sleep in the
form of a traveler. He started with the eldest and asked him about their sister. The brother told him what the pious
man had stated and how they were shown her grave. Shaytan told him that the pious man had lied. He said, “He did
not tell you the truth about your sister. He got her pregnant and she had his son and then he killed and buried her out
of fear of you. Then he threw them in a ditch he dug behind the door of the house she was staying in, to the right of
the entrance. Go and enter the house in which she stayed and on the right of the entrance you will find everything I
told you about.” Then he went to the middle brother and did the same. Then he went to the youngest brother and did
the same. When they woke, they were all surprised at what they had seen. When they met each other, they all said, “I
saw an amazing thing last night,” and they informed each other of what they had seen.
The eldest said, “That dream has nothing to it so just ignore
it.” The youngest said, “I will not leave it until I go and look
at that place.” They all went until they reached the door of
the place where their sister stayed. They opened the door
and looked for the place that was described to them in their
dreams. They found their sister and her son buried in a
ditch, as they were told. They asked the worshipper about it
and he confirmed what Iblees had told them. They then
took him and were about to crucify him. When they had him
on the wooden cross, Shaytan said to him, “You know that I
am your companion who tempted you by the woman until
you got her pregnant and you killed her and her son. If you
obey me today and deny Allah, who formed and shaped
you, I will rescue you from your predicament.” The
worshipper then belied Allah. When he belied Allah, Shaytan
left from being between him and the others and they were
able to crucify him.”

LESSONS Do not lose hope in the mercy of Allah.

FROM THIS
STORY
Shaytaans aim is to get us to disobey Allah.

Stay away from zina, never come close to it.

THE 7 UNDER THE SHADE OF ALLAH
The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:
There are seven whom Allah will shade in His Shade on the Day when there is no shade except His Shade: a just
ruler; a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic; a man whose heart is attached to the
mosques; two men who love each other for Allah’s sake, meeting for that and parting upon that; a man who is
called by a woman of beauty and position [for illegal intercourse], but he says: ‘I fear Allah’, a man who gives in
charity and hides it, such that his left hand does not know what his right hand gives in charity; and a man who
remembered Allah in private and so his eyes shed tears. (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī , Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim )
So there are seven things mentioned in this hadith:
) A just ruler.
) A youth who grows up in the worship of Allah.
) A man whose heart is attached to the mosques.
)Two people who love one another for the sake of Allah.
) Someone who resists a direct temptation from the opposite gender.
)A person who is completely selfless in charity.
) A person who remembers Allah in private and sheds tears in doing so.
1) We all have varying situations throughout our lives where we are in a position of authority and when we have such
power and during this time we need to make decisions which are going to be fair and just.
2) From the time we have become mature to around the age of 40 we are in our youth and everything we do during this
time is for the sake of Allah and planning our lives around islam. For example when we look at our parents or our
grandparents we see them praising Allah and always doing dhikr so in this case this person would be in the
rememberance of Allah at a young age.
3) These are the people you meet who organize their lives around prayer. They make every effort to be at the mosque for
prayer as much as possible and find beauty and pleasure in doing so. They recognize the peace and tranquility that
comes from spending time in the mosque, and they call others to do so as well.
4) Loving someone for the sake of Allah. For example not caring what a person looks like, how poor or rich he is, the
colour of their skin but loving them because of their strong belief in Allah.
5) Resisting temptations and sexual desires because Allah is always above us and he is all seeing and having a strong fear
in Allah.
6) someone who is so charitable that they lose track of their charity. The expression here is that their right hand spends
so freely that their left hand does not even notice it. This habit is not about simply giving when it is convenient or only
on certain things and not others. This is a habit that becomes so much a part of the person’s being that it reaches all
causes of goodness.
7) The seventh, and final, is the one who remembers Allah (swt) in private and tears up. This last one is very intimate.
Many people are able to maintain a stable Islamic personality in public, but when they are left alone by themselves they
start to slip. Their identity and worship are public affairs but have not reached the inner depths of the self where true
spirituality lies. The one who remembers Allah (swt) when alone and cries is the one who has cultivated a truly special
and unique relationship with their Creator; an intimate relationship that cannot be explained by words and is only
obtained through long periods of struggling for His sake.
The story of Juraij
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "There was an Israeli man called Juraij, while he was
praying, his mother came and called him, but he did not respond to her call. He
said (to himself) whether he should continue the prayer or reply to his mother.
She came to him the second time and called him and said, "O Allah! Do not let
him die until he sees the faces of prostitutes." Juraij used to live in a
hermitage. A woman said that she would entice Juraij, so she went to him and
presented herself (for an evil act) but he refused. She then went to a shepherd
and allowed him to commit an illegal sexual intercourse with her and later she
gave birth to a boy. She alleged that the baby was from Juraij. The people went
to Juraij and broke down his hermitage, pulled him out of it and abused him.
He performed ablution and offered the prayer, then he went to the male
(baby) and asked him; "O boy! Who is your father?" The baby replied that his
father was the shepherd. The people said that they would build for him a
hermitage of gold but Juraij asked them to make it of mud only."

The Two mothers and the wolf
• Abu Hurayrah narrated that Allah’s Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬said:
• “There were two women with whom there were their two babies. A wolf came and took away one of the
babies. One lady said to her companion, ‘The wolf has taken your baby.’ The other said, ‘But it has taken your
baby.’ So both of them sought the judgment of (Prophet) Dawood [David] who judged that the boy should
be given to the older lady. Then both of them went to (Prophet) Sulaiman [Solomon], son of Dawood [David]
and informed him of the case. Sulaiman [Solomon] said, ‘Give me a knife so that I may cut the child into two
portions and give one half to each of you.’ Horrified, the younger lady shouted, ‘Do not do so; may Allah
bless you! He is her child.’ On that, Sulaiman [Solomon] gave the child to the younger lady.“

Prophet sulaiman did this to show who's child it is because the youngest mother was horrified of the judgment
since it meant the death of her own baby. Therefore, she sacrificed him and offered him to the other woman to
َ
save his life. The other one, however, was not related to the boy and she accepted Sulaiman’s [Solomon’s] ( ‫ﻋﻠ ْ ِﻪ‬
ُ‫)ٱﻟﺴ َ م‬
‫ ﱠ‬judgment. Consequently, Sulaiman was able to discover who the real mother was and gave her the boy
despite her admission that he belonged to the other woman.
LEARNING POINTS

• Sometimes you can say things you don’t

intend in doing, in order to solve a situation.
• Prophet sulaiman had a lot of wisdom and had
a great ability in coming up with solutions.
Hadith on Charity: I was sick
and you did not visit Me

• Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and

blessings be upon him, said, “Allah Almighty will say on the Day of
Resurrection: O son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me.
He will say: My Lord, how can I visit You when You are the Lord of
the worlds? Allah will say: Did you not know that My servant was
sick and you did not visit him, and had you visited him you would
have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food but
you did not feed Me. He will say: My Lord, how can I feed You
when You are the Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: Did you not
know that My servant asked you for food but you did not feed
him, and had you fed him you would have found Me with him? O
son of Adam, I asked you for drink but you did not provide for Me.
He will say: My Lord, how can I give You drink when You are the
Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: My servant asked you for a
drink but you did not provide for him, and had you given it to him
you would have found Me with him.”
Lessons from this hadith
1) Allah is always with the sick people
2) a person who visits and feed the sick will find a reward from Allah
3) Taking care of the elderly and sick people is very rewarding
4) Visiting an ill person is a means of pleasing Allah
5) Feeding the poor and needy are important for Muslims.
Hadith on Animals: Allah forgives
prostitute for kindness to dog
• Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be
upon him, said, “A prostitute had once been forgiven. She
passed by a dog panting near a well. Thirst had nearly killed
him, so she took off her sock, tied it to her veil, and drew
up some water. Allah forgave her for that.”
• Ibn al-Qayyim said, “If Allah Almighty had forgiven one who
gave water to a dog suffering from extreme thirst, then how
about one who relieves the thirst, satisfies the hunger, and
clothes the naked among the Muslims?”

The story of ibrahim and nimrood
• Zaid ibn Aslam related that Namrud had with him great supplies of food, and people would go to
him to seek provision from him.
Prophet Ibrahim AS was one of those who went to him, and between him and Numrud there took
place the famous debate that Allah (The Exalted) related in the Qur'an: "Have you not looked at
the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord (Allah), because Allah had given him a
kingdom? When Abraham said (to him), "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death." He
said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah causes the sun to rise from the
east; so cause it to rise from the west." So the disbeliever was utterly defeated. And Allah does
not guide the wrongdoing people." (Qur'an 2:258)
• Namrud didn't give Ibrahim AS any food, and when he returned to his family, he went to a sand-
hill and filled two sacks with dirt, with the intention of preoccupying his family when he returned
to them. When he returned home, he put down his possessions, and then leaned on something
and fell asleep.
• His wife, Sarah, went to the two sacks and found them to the filled with good food.
With that food, she began to cook. When Ibrahim woke up, he was surprised to
find the food that she had prepared. He said, "Where did you get this from?" She
said, "From the food that you brought with you." Ibrahim (may the Peace and
Blessings of Allah be upon him) knew that it was Allah Who provided that provision
for them. Then Allah (the Exalted) sent an angel to the aforesaid Tyrant king
(Namrud), ordering him to believe in Allah, but he refused. The angel called him to
believe a second time, and he refused again; then a third time, and still he refused.
• The angel said, "Gather your armies and I will gather mine." Namrud gathered his
army together at the time of sunrise, and Allah sent to him mosquitoes, so many in
number, that the people of the army could not even see the sun. Then Allah gave
power to the mosquitoes over them: they ate their flesh and blood, leaving them
as decomposed bones. One of those mosquitoes entered into the nostrils of the
king (namrud). Allah punished him by it, and he was in so much pain that he would
continually hit his head against objects (hoping to make the mosquito exit or
simply because of sheer madness that resulted from the pain) until he finally died.

Moral of the story
This story reminds us of the narration of the Prophet Muhammad (May the
Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) in which he said: “If you rely on Allah
with due reliance, Allah will provide for you as He does for the birds; they leave
with empty stomachs in the morning and return full at dusk.” In this story is a
sign of Allah's power in which He removed the tyrant Namrud by one of the
weakest creatures, the mosquito. There is also another benefit in that Namrud
didn't believe even when an angel called him to believe, this is an important
point to reflect upon as many non-Muslims ask why doesn't an angel appear
before me if your religion is true?. We say that even if an angel appeared before
you, if your heart is sealed like Namruds then you still won't believe.
The 3 men who spent the night in a cave
• Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon
him, said, “While three men were walking, they were overcome by rain and took
refuge in a cave in a mountain. A boulder fell over the mouth of their cave,
blocking them inside. One of them said to the others, ‘Look at the good deeds you
have done for Allah that you may call upon Allah Almighty by them, for perhaps He
will relieve you.’ One of them said, ‘O Allah, I had two old parents with my wife
and young child. I tended to a flock and when evening came, I milked them and
served my parents first before my child. One day I went in search of fodder and I
did not come back until it was evening. I found them both sleeping, so I milked as I
had done before. I brought the milk and stood by their heads, for I hated to
disrupt their sleep or to serve my child before both of them. My child was crying at
my feet, yet I continued standing over them until the approach of dawn. If You
know I had done that seeking Your countenance, then relieve us of this distress
that we might see the sky!’ Allah shifted the boulder until they could see the sky.
• Another man said, ‘O Allah, I had a cousin whom I loved
more than any man could love women. I presented myself
to her and she refused unless I could give her one hundred
coins. I worked hard until I gathered one hundred coins and
brought them to her. When I prepared myself between her
legs, she said: O servant of Allah, fear Allah and do not
break the hymen without right to do so! I stood and left
her. If You know I had done that seeking your Face, then
relieve us of this distress!’ The boulder was again shifted
for them. The last man said, ‘O Allah, I employed a worker
for a portion of rice. When he finished his work, he said:
Give me what I deserve! I offered his share to him but he
did not accept it. I continued planting his share until I had
amassed cows and flocks. Then he came to me and he said:
Fear Allah and do not violate my rights! I said: Go to this
cow and its flocks and take them. He said: Fear Allah and do
not mock me! I said: I do not mock you, take that cow and
its flocks. So he took them and he left. If You know I had
done that seeking Your face, then relieve us of what
remains!’ Then Allah relieved them of what remained.”

marriage. They all refused. the Prophet went to one of the Ansar and said: "I want to have your daughter
married." "How wonderful and blessed, O Messenger of God and what a delight to the eye (this would be),"
replied the Ansari man with obvious joy and happiness. "I do not want her for myself," added the Prophet.
"Then for whom, O Messenger of God?" asked the man, obviously somewhat let down. "For Julaybib," said the
Prophet.
The Ansari must have been too shocked to give his own reaction and he merely said: "I will consult with her
mother." And off he went to his wife. "The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, wants
to have your daughter married," he said to her. She too was thrilled. "What a wonderful idea and what a
delight to the eye (this would be)." she said. "He doesn't want to marry her himself but he wants to marry her
to Julaybib," he added. She was flabbergasted.
"To Julaybib! No, never to Julaybib! No, by the living God, we shall not marry (her) to him." she protested.
As the Ansari was about to return to the Prophet to inform him of what his wife had said, the daughter who
had heard her mother's protestations, asked: "Who has asked you to marry me?"Her mother told her of
the Prophet's request for her hand in marriage to Julaybib. When she heard that the request had come from
the Prophet and that her mother was absolutely opposed to the idea, she was greatly perturbed and said:
"Do you refuse the request of the Messenger of God? Send Send me to him for he shall certainly not bring ruin to
me."I am satisfied and submit myself to whatever the Messenger of God deems good for me." The Prophet heard of
her reaction and prayed for her: "O Lord, bestow good on her in abundance and make not her life one of toil and
trouble."him for he shall certainly not bring ruin to me."
Julaybeeb married the girl and He went on an expedition with the Prophet, peace be on him, and an encounter with
some mushrikin ensued. When the battle was over, the Prophet asked his companions: "Have you lost anyone?" They
replied giving the names of their relatives of close friends who were killed. He put the same questions to other
companions and they also named the ones they had lost in the battle. Another group answered that they had lost no
close relative whereupon the Prophet said:
"But I have lost Julaybib. Search for him in the battlefield." They searched and found him beside seven mushrikin
whom he had struck before meeting his end. The Prophet stood up and went to the spot where Julaybib, his short
and deformed companion, lay. He stood over him and said: "He killed seven and then was killed? This (man) is of
me and I am of him."
He repeated this two or three times. The Prophet then took him in his arms and it is said that he had no better bed
besides the forearms of the messenger of God. The Prophet then dug for him a grave and himself placed him in it.
He did not wash him for martyrs are not washed before burial.
The Story Of The Leper, The Bald And The
Blind Man
Narrated Abu Huraira, that he heard Rasulullah sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam saying:
Allah willed to test three who were a leper, a blind man and a bald-headed man.
So, he sent them an angel who came to the leper and said, “What thing do you like most?” He
replied, “Good color and good skin, for the people have a strong aversion to me.” The angel touched
him and his illness was cured, and he was given a good color and beautiful skin. The angel asked
him, “What kind of property do you like best?” He replied, “Camels (or cows).” So he (i.e. the leper)
was given a pregnant she-camel, and the angel said (to him), “May Allah bless you in it.”
The angel then went to the bald-headed man and said, “What thing do you like most?” He said, “I
like good hair and wish to be cured of this disease, for the people feel repulsion for me.” The angel
touched him and his illness was cured, and he was given good hair. The angel asked (him), “What
kind of property do you like best?” He replied, “Cows.” The angel gave him a pregnant cow and said,
“May Allah bless you in it.”
• Afterwards, all the three pregnant animals gave birth to young ones, and multiplied and brought forth so
much that one of the (three) men had a herd of camels filling a valley, and one had a herd of cows filling a
valley, and one had a flock of sheep filling a valley.
• Then the angel, disguised in the shape and appearance of a leper, went to the leper and said, “I am a poor
man, who has lost all means of livelihood while on a journey. So none will satisfy my need except Allah and
then you. In the Name of Him Who has given you such nice color and beautiful skin, and so much property, I
ask you to give me a camel so that I may reach my destination.” The man replied, “I have many obligations
(so I cannot give you).” The angel said, “I think I know you; were you not a leper to whom the people had a
strong aversion? Weren’t you a poor man, and then Allah gave you (all this property)?” He replied, “(This is
all wrong), I got this property through inheritance from my fore-fathers.” The angel said, “If you are telling a
lie, then let Allah make you as you were before.”
• Then the angel, disguised in the shape and appearance of a bald man, went to the bald man and said to him
the same as he told the first one, and he too answered the same as the first one did. The angel said, “If you
are telling a lie, then let Allah make you as you were before.”
- The angel, disguised in the shape of a blind man, went to the blind man and said, “I am a
poor man and a traveler, whose means of livelihood have been exhausted while on a
journey. I have nobody to help me except Allah, and after Him, you yourself. I ask you in
the Name of Him Who has given you back your eye-sight to give me a sheep, so that with
its help, I may complete my journey.” The man said, “No doubt, I was blind and Allah
gave me back my eye-sight; I was poor and Allah made me rich; so take anything you
wish from my property. By Allah, I will not stop you for taking anything (you need) of my
property which you may take for Allah’s sake.” The angel replied, “Keep your property
with you. You (i.e., the three men) have been tested and Allah is pleased with you and is
angry with your two companions.”

Lessons from this story
- We should thank Allah for all the blessings he has given us
- We should give to others, just the way Allah has given us
- Never be boastful towards others because Allah has given you more
Anas ibn Malik reported: A man said, “O Messenger of
Allah, should I tie my camel and trust in Allah, or
should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?” The
Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Tie
her and trust in Allah.”
Hadith on This comes from a hadith narrated by al-Tirmidhi.
Tawakkul: Trust in There was a Bedouin man who was leaving his camel
without tying it. The Prophet PBUH asked, “why don’t
Allah, but tie your you tie down your camel?” The man answered, “I put
my trust in Allah.” The Prophet replied, “Tie your camel
camel first and put your trust in Allah.

- We should take the means and trust in Allah
e.g if you have an exam, you must revise and do your
part and then go to the exam having tawakkul.
Hadith on repentance
Anas b. MālikAl-Anṣāri (raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu) the servant of the Messenger of Allah narrated: Messenger of Allah
(ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,
“Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who has his camel in a waterless
desert carrying his provision of food and drink and it is lost. He, having lost all hopes (to get that back), lies
down in shade and is disappointed about his camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing before
him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: ‘O Allah, You are my slave and I am
Your Rubb’.He commits this mistake out of extreme joy.”
This is a story of a man who finds his camel after losing it, and he mentioned the story: that a man was in a
desert alone, with no water, food, or people…and he lost his camel. He searched, but failed to find it. So he
went to sleep under a tree, awaiting death! He lost hope in finding his camel and lost hope in life, for his food
and drink were on the lost camel.
Then suddenly, in this state of hopelessness, he finds his camel right in front of him, its reins attached to the
same tree he slept beneath.
“’O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Rabb!’” He wanted to praise Allah saying: ‘O Allah, You are my Lord
and I am Your Slave’, but due to his extreme joy, he made a mistakenly switched it around.
