First World War, also known as World War I. It was a global conflict
that lasted from 1914 to 1918, involving many of the world’s great
powers. It was triggered by the assassination of Archduke Franz
Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary and resulted in significant political,
social, and economic changes, including the collapse of empires and
the emergence of new nations.
When Did World War One End? World War One ended at 11am on 11
November, 1918. This became known as Armistice Day – the day
Germany signed an armistice (an agreement for peace) which caused
the fighting to stop. People in Britain, France and the countries that
supported them celebrated.
