Ultherapy is a non-surgical skin lifting procedure that uses tried and true ultrasound energy. The ONLY non-invasive procedure FDA-cleared to LIFT the skin in the neck, chin & brow! ) How does Ultherapy use ultrasound? Ultherapy uses ultrasound in 2 ways: 1) Tosee the different tissue layers being targeted and structures (e.g. bone) to avoid 2) To safely treat at pre-determined depths whil the surface of the skin bypassing eco Ds 1415 Focused ultrasound energy is delivered non-invasively and heats deep tissue without affecting the surface of the skin. This causes a natural, regenerative response. Unlike other types of ultrasound, there will be a sensation of heat. The Effects of Aging on the Face Laxity commonly first occurs on the forehead, which leads to: * Brow descent * Excess skin/hooding on the lids * Aless open-eyed appearance Cheek and neck tissue laxity can lead to: * Flattening of the mid-cheek + Nasolabial folds + “Marionette” lines on chin; downturned mouth * Loss of jawline angularity; jowls * Sagging under the chin After Ultherapy, weak collagen is reorganized and strengthened by the growth of new collagen, which lifts the skin. The Role of Collagen in Skin Aging + Collagen is the protein latticework providing structure to the skin and deep supportive connective tissue below the skin + Weakened collagen in the superficial skin layer can cause fine lines and wrinkles. >> This is where eneray applied at depths of less than 2mm play role * Weakened collagen in deeper connective tissue causes the skin to become prone to gravitational forces and begins to stretch, sag and shift downward. >> This is where Ultherapy plays a non-invasive and unique role. How is Ultherapy Different from Lasers? + Lasers typically involve improving superficial layers of the skin (e.9. fine + Ultherapy addresses the deep skin layer AND the foundational layer addressed _ in cosmetic surgery that lends support to the skin * With ultrasound, we bypass the upper layers of the skin and deliver the right amount of energy at the right depths to contract and then ultimately lift the soft tissue. * The use of ultrasound also allows us to see where the energy will be delivered. lines, wrinkles, pigment changes). —- AAAAAAAAAAARR mea ae eae SSSTSRAARARAAAAAAAN What Happens During the Treatment? First, the practitioner uses omnis Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging to ta see below the surface of the skin and fom plan optimal placement Next, focused ultrasound energy is delivered to the dermal layer and to the deep foundation of the skin. The heat this creates triggers the body’s natural response mechanism, which is to rejuvenate tired collagen and supplement it with fresh, new collagen What Does It Feel Like? pee Comfort thresholds vary from person-to-person There may be discomfort while the energy is being delivered, but it is brief, temporary and a signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated Treatment over boney areas may be more uncomfortable (forehead/jaw) There are many comfort measures available to help make your experience as pleasant as possible Be sure to provide feedback during the treatment to help us utilize the comfort measures as needed Patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come! Any flushing or redness should resolve within a few hours + jtisnot uncommon to experience slight swelling for a few days following the lowing the procedure, or tingling/tenderness to the touch for days to weeks foll procedure, but these are mild and temporary in nature * Occasional temporary effects can include bruising or welts, which resolve in days, or numbness in a select area, which resolves in weeks * As with any medical procedure, there are possible risks associated with the treatment. There is a remote risk of a burn that may or may not lead to scarring, which will respond to medical care, or temporary nerve inflammation, which will resolve in a matter of weeks * Many observe immediate tightening * Refer to the “What to Expect” pamphlet for a complete list of possible outcomes from Ultherapy and when these may be seen What Kind of Results Can | Expect? * Upon treatment, the regenerative process is initiated, but the full effect will build gradually over the course of two to three months with continued improvements up to 6 months post treatment. * Visible effects include lifting and toning of sagging skin. — Inthe FDA-reviewed clinical trials patients had a noticeable, significant lifting of the brow and chin/neck tissue * Occasionally, results are subclinical, that is, the collagen building on the inside that helps counter the effects of gravity does not have a visible effect on the outside. When Will | See Results? eee Repairing and rebuilding your skin from the inside out is a process, not an event!
