GREECE

climate
The predominant climate in Greece is
Mediterranean, with local variations. In
general, winters are wet and cold and
summers are hot and dry. There are distinctly
higher rainfall volumes on the Mediterranean
islands than on the mainland
culture
Ancient Greek culture is marked by its lasting
influence in areas such as mythology,
philosophy, art, politics and literature. Greek
art, represented in sculptures and
architecture, seeks harmony and aesthetic
perfection. Furthermore, Athenian democracy
was one of the first forms of democratic
government in history.
Food
The richness of Greek cuisine comes from the mix of
influences with cuisines from Italy, the Balkans and the
Middle East.
Greek cuisine is part of the so-called Mediterranean
cuisine, which prioritizes the consumption of natural
foods, such as legumes, vegetables, cereals, seafood,
oilseeds and lots of olive oil.
