“Figures at Night”
It was late at night. Nena was left to sleep in her own room
for the first time. Her heart was thudding loudly in her chest. She
saw a menacing figure near the door. She heard a whistling sound.
The figure was moving slowly back and forth. She closed her eyes
and prayed that this scary figure would go away. Just as when she
was about to scream, the door opened. Her mother came in to
check on her. She told her mom about the scary figure. Her mother
sat with her on the bed and showed her that the scary figure by the
door was just a shadow from the tree outside. It was moving
because of the wind. The whistling sound was also from the wind.
It was all because of her imagination. When she realized this, she
was able to sleep soundly that night
