Betty and David loved eating chocolates and sweets but they didn’t like cleaning their teeth.
Their mother, Mrs. Glass, wasn’t happy about that. She told her children: ‘It’s important to clean
your teeth carefully if you don’t want to have a toothache.’ But Betty and David thought that
brushing teeth was boring.
Mrs. Glass came up with an idea. She told Betty and David: ‘Next week, we have a schedule to
see the dentist. He will check your teeth and if they’re all good, I will have a great present for
you.’ Betty and David were very happy when they heard that. They wanted different things and
tried to guess which present their mother would give them. From the next day, they brushed their
teeth three times a day after every meal. They cleaned their teeth carefully and took good care of
them every day.
When they came to the dentist, they were very excited. They liked him because he was young
and very kind. He asked each of them to come and sit in the dentist’s chair. He checked their
teeth carefully and said: ‘You both have very strong and white teeth.’
Betty and David were very happy. They kept asking their mum about their presents. On their
way home, Mum stop at a chemist’s and bought each of them an electric toothbrush. Betty and
David really liked their electric toothbrushes. They thought that it would be really cool to use
them to clean their teeth.

Dear William,
I am having a lovely holiday at my Uncle George’s house. This afternoon, he drove me
and my cousin, Charlie, ...to... West Lake. We did lots of exciting things there. First, we
made a boat from old newspapers and sailed it down the stream. We were very lucky
that it was quite windy today so the boat moved fast. After that,
we went fishing. Uncle George was very good at fishing and he caught three
very big fish. Then my cousin Charlie and I went to collect some wood to make
fire. We cooked fish on the fire and have a delicious lunch. We all had a
really wonderful time.
Please tell me about your holiday.
See you soon,
Dan
