I. BACKGROUND
Office 5S project is a program that established by HR Department. This project has an objective
to make a working environment that clean, concise, comfort, clear, and safe at cnooc office. To
actualize this project, sections under HR department make a team, that consist of people that
will be work to audit, and socialize this office 5S project.
Now, all people who work on it are not know about what Office 5S. So that why, they do their
work based on their experience and their knowledge to organize and control such as document,
paper, file, newspaper, mail, etc. From this situation we can imagine that our office are not
standardize. Some area are messy, or some area are clean, or some area are clean, comfort and
safe. So, we want make everybody who work at CNOOC know about Office 5S. And they will
implement and do this concept that actualize on their daily work.
The Office of CNOOC SES Ltd consist 5 th floor that contain of 9 departments that work on it. This
team will socialized the office 5S project from giving understanding about Office 5S, after that
engage all people that working at the office to do by making competition about 5S activities.
Definition of 5S
5S is an abbreviation that every term has a meaning. The definition of 5S is below:
1. Seiri – Ringkas – Sort.
Distinguish between necessary and unnecessary, and eliminate unneeded.
Membedakan antara yang diperlukan dan tidak diperlukan, serta membuang yang tidak diperlukan.
2. Seiton – Rapih – Set-in and Set-out Order.
Determine everything so neatly arranged so as to facilitate the search for the desired item.
Reforming with what is required.
Tentukan segala sesuatunya agar tertata rapih sehingga dapat memudahkan dalam mencari barang yang
dikehendaki. Menata dengan apa yang diperlukan.
3. Seiso – Resik – Shine & Sweep.
Activity clean up trash and dirt to get a clean workplace. And perform inspections of
abnormality.
Melakukan aktivitas membersihkan sampah serta kotoran untuk mendapatkan tempat kerja yang bersih. Dan
melakukan inspeksi terhadap keabnormalan.
4. Seiketsu – Rawat – Standardize (Spick and Span).
Maintain workplace conditions in order to keep it seiri, seiton, and seiso. comfortable
working conditions need to be created, maintained, repaired, and standardized. It looks like
a spick and span when we adorn ourselves.
Pelihara kondisi tempat kerja agar tetap ringkas, rapih serta resik. kondisi kerja yang nyaman perlu diciptakan,
dipelihara, serta diperbaiki. Ini seperti “bersolek”, ketika kita mempercantik diri kita sendiri.
5. Shitsuke – Rajin – Self–Discipline.
Does everything work correctly. Getting used to always be able to comply with existing
regulations or rules.
Melakukan segala sesuatu pekerjaan dengan benar. Membiasakan agar selalu dapat mentaati ketentuan atau
peraturan yang ada.

This project start for 3S activities, such as seiri (sort), seiton (set-in and set-out), and seiso (shine
and sweep). And everybody must participate, implement, and make this project with fun,
positive, and continual improvements mind-set.

The Audit score is defined into range scale 1 – 5. The definition every scale is below:
- 1 (Very Poor)
- 2 (Poor)
- 3 (Normal) – (Bronze medal/Bronze certification).

- 5 (Very Good) – (Gold medal/Gold certification).
Each scale 1 until 5 have different meaning depend on each area. The definition of each area
