1. For you, what can you gain from learning about history?
Learning history is one main important role as a human being. Because
not knowing what happened in the past is like having no idea what you did
yesterday. As a person who has a numerous question about what happened to
my ancestors, my sense of belongingness, the factual idea about the land that I
belong to, I strive to collect and gain information by educating myself related
about this different aspect of history. It is a fact that learning history foster a
sense of identity and connection to one’s heritage. Learning about the historical
events, cultures, and traditions that shaped one's ancestors and homeland
provides insight into where we came from. It helps individuals understand their
roots and the factors that contributed to the formation of their identity.
Moreover, learning history gives a contribution to preservation of knowledge or
ideas. History serves as a collective memory of a society. It helps ensure that
the stories and experiences of previous generations are not forgotten,
contributing to a sense of continuity and connection across time.
2. What historical event in the Philippines do you find the most interesting?
One of the most captivating chapters in Philippine history that interest
me the most centers around the periods of foreign occupation, with particular
emphasis on the Spanish, American, and Japanese colonial eras. These
historical events are interesting and captivating because they are complex and
have many different aspects. They involve stories of people being strong and
determined, acting heroically, and being deeply devoted to their country. In
essence, the complexity and the inspiring qualities of these events make them
intriguing and worth exploring. These historical events unveils a tapestry of
narratives, ranging from tales of love and sacrifice to stories of bravery and
perseverance. It allows us to delve into the heart of Filipino nationalism, a
spirit that has endured throughout these tumultuous periods and continues to
shape the nation's identity today.
