THE EFFECT OF PEER PRESSURE ON THE ACADEMIC

PERFORMANCE OF THE STUDENTS IN GRADE 10-


COURAGE AT QUINABIGAN NATIONAL
HIGH SCHOOL
Statement of the Problem

The students academic performance in Grade 10-Courage is highly affected because


of Peer Pressure. That is why, the researchers seeks to investigate how peer pressure
influences students both positively and negatively. This research aims to understand
the different ways peer pressure affects students' academic performance. Through
this, we can find ways to improve students' academic performance and create a more
supportive learning environment.
Research Questions

This study aims to determine the answer of following questions:


1. What is of the Effect of Peer Pressure on the Academic Performance of the
students in Grade 10- Courage at Quinabigan National High School
2. What are the Effect of Peer Pressure in terms of:
1. Self- Confidence
2. Self- Worth
3. Is there a significant related between Peer Pressure and Academic Performance of
the students in Grade10 Courage at Quinabigan National High School?

Abstract

The study dealt with the Effect of Peer Pressure on the Academic Performance
of the students in Grade 10- Courage at Quinabigan National High School. There
were twenty-eight (28) respondents which are composed of males and females from
Grade10- Courage.
The most serious problems that prevent students from bringing out their talent
and knowledge in the classroom is Peer Pressure. This is a really serious problem,
because a student who feel Peer Pressure sometimes under-estimates their abilities,
they doesn’t believe in themselves. But the problem of Peer Pressure is a natural
problem for students. We will have this problem as knowledge develops in the
classroom.
Lastly, the study recommends that students who negatively affects by peer
pressure the should be assisted to enable them cope with the challenges and the
School, Government, the district, parents and the community should ensure that the
learning environment is made conducive enough for meaningful students' academic
performance to be realized especially in facilitating of clubs at school, for example by
introducing Peer Support Groups and Community Service Clubs.
Objective of the Study

The main objective of the study is to examine the effects of peer pressure on the
academic performance of students in Grade 10 - Courage at Quinabigan National
High School.
The study specifically aims:

1. To examine the effects of positive peer pressure on the academic performance of


the students in Grade 10- Courage at Quinabigan National High School
2. To examine the effects of negative peer pressure on the academic performance of
the students in Grade 10- Courage at Quinabigan National High School
Significance of the Study

This study was conducted to determine the the Effect of Peer Pressure on the
Academic Performance of the students in Grade 10- Courage at Quinabigan National
High School.

Parents and guardians- This study will help them to know about what is happening
to their son’s/ daughter’s in school. They will be aware about the disadvantages
especially the advantages that not all Peers are bad influence.

The teachers - This study will help them to understand more their students that not
all students are lazy or don’t have a dreams in life, they are just being influence by
their peers.

The students- They will be inform about the positive and negative effects of Peer
Pressure. In this they will have a clear understanding and decision on how to choose a
circle that will help them grow.

Future Researchers- This study will equally be helpful to them as it will serve as a
source of research material for them. This may also serve as a starting point for them
to plan and devise teaching objectives and strategies to maximize learning potential of
the students.
