TRAFFIC NOTIFICATION

Whereas it is necessary for preventing danger, obstruction or inconvenience to the public in

connection with the Christmas Festival on 24.12.2023 and 25.12.2023, I, Vineet Kumar Goyal,
Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, in exercise of powers vested in me under Section 115, 117, 122
and 126 M V Act, 1988 and Section 62, 62(1b) of Calcutta Police Act./ 39, 39(1b) of Calcutta
Suburban Police Act read with Rule No. 85, 86, 87, 88 and 93 of Rules for the Regulations of
Traffic in Kolkata and its suburbs and under sub-section(1) of Section 4 of the West Bengal Traffic
Regulations Act, 1965 (W B Act XV of 1965) read with Govt. of West Bengal Home (Transport)
Department Order No. 7605-WT, dated the 20th July, 1965 and Govt. of West Bengal Transport
Department Notification No. 3363-WT / 3M- 34/99, dated the 29th April, 1999, do hereby order that
all classes of vehicles and all kinds of traffic including pedestrian traffic for the city of Kolkata shall
be regulated in the manner prescribed below, as and when considered necessary :

A) Movement of all kinds of goods vehicles shall be restricted to move towards Maidan and
Park Street sector from the following road intersection from 16.00 hrs on 24.12.2023 to 04.00 hrs.
on 25.12.2023 and from 16.00 hrs on 25.12.2023 till clearance given by DC TP on 26.12.2023.

(i) AJC Bose Road & Chowringhee Road crossing (towards north).
(ii) AJC Bose Road & Harish Mukherjee Road & Cathedral Road crossing (towards north).
(iii) AJC Bose Road & Hospital Road (West) crossing (towards north).
(iv) Strand Road & Gosthapal Sarani crossing (towards East).
(v) Strand Road & Auckland Road crossing (towards East).
(vi) Red Road & Mayo Road crossing.
(vii) Mayo Road & Dufferin Road crossing.
(viii) Cathedral Road & Queens Way crossing.
(ix) Chowringhee Road & Shakespeare Sarani crossing.
(x) Esplanade crossing (towards South).
(xi) Govt. Place East & Esplanade Row East crossing (towards South).
(xii) Govt. Place East & R R Avenue crossing (towards South).
Instead, they will be allowed to move along A J C Bose Road, St. Georges Gate Road,
Strand Road and onwards.
B) (a) Traffic Restrictions for 24.12.2023 (as and when required)
(i) Both way traffic will not be implemented before 02:00 hrs (25.12.2023) on Park Street,
Shakespeare Sarani and all other connecting & Feeder Roads, except Chowringhee Road.
(ii) Queensway shall be one way from East to West, as and when required.
(iii) Cathedral Road will be closed for vehicles as and when required.
(iv) North and South bound vehicles will ply along J L Nehru Road from Ho-Chi-Minh Sarani
crossing up to AJC Bose Road crossing. In case of necessity south bound vehicles may be
diverted along Queensway via Cathedral Road Extension.
(b) Traffic Restrictions for 25.12.2023 (as and when required)

(i) Park Street from J.L. Nehru Road crossing up to Wood Street crossing & Entire Middleton
Street will be closed.
(ii) Only East Bound Traffic will ply on Ho-Chi-Min Sarani.
(iii) Both bound Traffic will ply along Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road from Royd Street crossing up to
Park Street crossing.

(iv) Russel Street will be No Entry for vehicular traffic and Little Russel Street from
Shakespeare Sarani Crossing.
(v) If required, west bound traffic will be restricted along Kyd Street from Free School Street.
(vi) Both Way traffic not to be released on Shakespeare Sarani, Camac Street without
permission from TCR.
(vii) Park Street and AJC Bose Road bound vehicles coming from Outram Road will avail Ho-
Chi-Minh Sarani to Camac Street then Short Street, Wood Street to avail Park Street or all
along either Camac Street or J L Nehru Road to avail AJC Bose Road.
(viii) Park Street bound vehicles coming via Mayo Road, J L Nehru Road will take Kyd Street
upto Free School Street then Royd Street up to R A Kidwai Road then right turn to avail
Park Street.
(ix) South bound vehicles along J L Nehru Road intending to move further south from Park
Street crossing will either avail Park Street Flyover or take right turn on Mayo Road from J L
Nehru Road crossing then Dufferin Road to Outram Road / Khidderpore Road.
(x) Vehicles along Shakespeare Sarani will move till J.L. Nehru Road crossing.
(xi) Auto Rickshaws may avail Free School Street – Marquis Street – R A Kidwai Road (foul) –
Elliot Road, in place of Free School Street – Royd Street – Elliot Road.
(xii) Both bound traffic will ply along Camac Street from Ho-Chi-Minn Sarani up to Short Street
crossing.
(xiii) If required, west bound traffic will be restricted along Elliot Road from AJC Bose Road
crossing.

(xiv) ‘No Parking’ will be enforced on Park Street from J.L. Nehru Road to Wood Street,
Middleton Street, Short Street, Wood Street from Short Street up to Park Street, Ho-Chi-Min
Sarani, Camac Street from Middleton Street to Short Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road from
Royd Street to Park Street, Little Russel Street, Free School Street from Park Street to Kyd
Street crossing, Elliot Road, etc.

C) Movement of Tram Cars will be stopped on R A Kidwai Road and its periphery and Elliot
Road from 12.00 hrs. on 24.12.2023 & 25.12.2023.

D) Vehicular traffic may also be regulated at and around the following places on 25.12.2023 as
and when considered necessary by the police on duty.
(i) Museum.
(ii) Victoria Memorial.
(iii) Birla Planetarium.
(iv) Alipore Zoo.
(v) Paresh Nath Temple.
(vi) Kali Temple at Kalighat.
(vii) Thanthania Kalibari.
(viii) New Market sector on Lindsey Street.
(ix) Birla Mandir on Ashutosh Chowdhury Avenue.
(x) Millennium Park.

E) Vehicular traffic may also be diverted from any of the arterial and feeder roads by traffic
police on duty as and when considered necessary in the interest of the public on the aforesaid
dates.

F) THESE NOTIFICATION SHALL BE ENFORCED IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER NORMAL

RESTRICTIONS ON THE DAYS, WHICH ARE NOT REPUGNANT TO THE ABOVE.
