At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
LC code for each
a. Define Mean, Median and Mode of Ungrouped data
b. Find Mean, Median and Mode of Ungrouped data
c. Apply the importance of measures of central tendency in real life.
Activity # 3: FIND ME
Nine students from Grade 7 Aquino obtained the following scores in a math quiz:
10, 17, 12, 14, 15, 9, 13, 10, 11. Find the value of mean, median and mode of the
given set of data.
Directions
1. Arranging the scores in increasing order: 9, 10, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17.
2. Compute for the average of the scores.
3. Identify the middle score.
4. What is the most frequently occurring scores?
C. Presenting examples
/ Instances of the
new lesson
Observe how the mean, median and mode of the scores were obtained. Complete
the statement below.

Activity No. 4: WHO’S REPRESENTING?
QUESTIONS:
E. What is the mean age of the service crew?
F. Is there someone in this group who has this age?
G. How many persons are older than the mean age? How many are younger?
H. Discussing new Activity No. 6: THE MOST POPULAR NUMBER ENTRY:
concepts and
practicing new skills Situation: The principal of a school had the number of students posted at the door
#2 of each section. What section (s) has the same number of students? What is that
number?
9-Chastity 9-Compassion
50 students 52 students
QUESTIONS:
a. What is the mean scores of both students?
b. How many scores are above and below the mean of these scores?
c. Check once more the distribution of scores. Which of the two has a more
consistent performance?
d. Which if the two students do you think should be sent to represent the
school in the competition?
e. Get the median of the scores of each student and compare with their mean.
J. Finding practical
applications of How can you apply the concept of Mean, Median and Mode in real life
concepts and skills situations? Can you give some examples?
in daily living

abstractions about The Mean is the most commonly used measure of central tendency. It is
the lesson used to describe a set of data where the measures cluster or concentrate at
a point. It is the sum of measures x divided by the number N of measures
in a variable.
The middle value here or term in a set of data arranged according to
size/magnitude is called the Median.
The Mode is the measure or value which occurs most frequently in a set of
data. It is the value with the greatest frequency.
