Delhi NCR Campus
About School of Sciences

The School of Sciences was established at the Delhi NCR

campus in 2020, bringing together three clusters: Computer
Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. This integration fosters
interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, equipping
students with versatile problem-solving skills applicable
across various sectors. The school offers undergraduate,
postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Computer Science,
Statistics, and Mathematics. It is an ideal environment for
research-minded and career oriented students to pursue their
passions. In addition to academics, students are holistically
developed through a range of co-curricular and
extracurricular activities.

Concept Note

Data analytics for real-world applications is a field that equips individuals

with the skills and knowledge to analyze large datasets and derive
meaningful insights that can be applied to solve real-world problems. This
field combines statistical analysis, data mining, machine learning, and
visualization techniques to extract valuable information from various
sources of data.

In today's data-driven world, organizations across industries are

increasingly relying on data analytics to make informed decisions, optimize
processes, identify trends, and gain a competitive edge. From healthcare
and finance to marketing and supply chain management, the applications
of data analytics are diverse and impactful.

A program focused on data analytics for real-world applications typically covers topics such as:

1. Data collection and preprocessing: Techniques for collecting data from different sources, cleaning and
preparing data for analysis.
2. Statistical analysis: Descriptive and inferential statistical methods for analyzing data and making
predictions.
3. Machine learning algorithms: Supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms for classification,
regression, clustering, and anomaly detection.
4. Data visualization: Tools and techniques for visualizing data to communicate insights effectively.
5. Big data technologies: Introduction to tools and platforms for handling large volumes of data, such as
Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
6. Real-world case studies: Practical applications of data analytics in various domains, including
healthcare, finance, marketing, and social media.
By attending a faculty development program on data analytics for real-world applications, participants
can enhance their understanding of data analysis techniques, gain hands-on experience with relevant
tools and technologies, and explore ways to integrate data analytics into their teaching and research
activities.

Objective of FDP

To Develop Proficiency in Data Collection and Preprocessing

- Teach methods for cleaning and transforming raw data into a
usable format, ensuring data quality and consistency.
To Master Statistical Analysis Techniques - To apply
descriptive and inferential statistical methods to analyze
datasets.
To Understand and Implement Machine Learning Algorithms -
Provide comprehensive knowledge of both supervised and
unsupervised learning algorithms.
To Enhance Data Visualization Skills - Introduce various data
visualization tools and techniques to effectively present and
communicate data insights.
To Explore Big Data Technologies and Real-World
Applications - Analyze real-world case studies to demonstrate
the application of data analytics in fields such as healthcare,
finance, marketing, and social media, fostering practical
problem-solving skills.

Outcome of FDP

Participants will deepen their knowledge of statistical analysis,

machine learning algorithms, data pre-processing techniques,
and data visualization methods.
Participants will be able to analyze the trends, outliers and
patterns in data through different functionalities of the tools
through python.
Participants will explore opportunities to incorporate data
analytics into their research projects, enabling them to
generate new insights, validate hypotheses, and publish
impactful research papers.

Pre-requisite to attend FDP

Basic knowledge of Python and basic data analytics concepts.
