The Tkemlps Indian Band Reserve #1 is located East of the North Thompson River and North of the South Thompson River, adjacent to the City of Kamloops. Tkemlps has always occupied a place of great economic importance in our region. Home to two major waterways, traditional Tkemlpsemc territory was the centre of major traffic and trade routes. Chief Shane Gottfriedson is the 12th elected Chief of the Tkemlps Indian Band (TIB) and with him sits a seven member Band Council. The TIB Chief and Council meet every Tuesday. If you are interested in meeting or submitting information to council, the request and/or submissions must be in by Thursday of the week prior. Send your information to maureen.frankcramer@kib.ca.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Kamloops is centrally located in the interior of British Columbia and is the economic hub of the southern interior where residents live large and pay less. If location is the key to success then Kamloops is the ideal business location with one of B.C.s most stable economies. including the Austrian and Chinese speed skating teams. Employee turnover is very low in the City because no one wants to leave!

TRANSPORTATION HUB

If you need to move inventory or information by rail, truck, air or fibre-optics, its difficult to find a better location the 25 shipping companies already operating out of the Kamloops area are proof of this. Both of British Columbias principal highways Highway #5, the provinces north south artery; and Highway #1, the national east west artery meet in Kamloops and are either adjacent to or within 5 minutes of available sites. There are only two places in Canada that have immediate access to both national railways CNR and CPR - and all four national fibre-optic cables; Kamloops is one of them. Air access is also excellent. Kamloops International Airport has daily flights to two international air hubs: Vancouver International and Calgary International.

LIFESTYLE FEATURES

There are over 38 lakes, two ski hills and nine golf courses within 30 minutes of Kamloops. The climate is semi-arid; winters are short and mild, while summers are long and sunny. As the Tournament Capital of Canada, Kamloops has outstanding sports facilities and has played host to numerous national sporting events. A dozen Olympic teams have prepared out of Kamloops

BUSINESS
With an investment friendly climate, Kamloops was selected Best BC Interior City to Invest In (Real Estate Investment Network). It is also recognized as one of the five best Micro Cities (population less than 100,000) to invest in (Foreign Direct Investment Magazine 2009/2010). The Tkemlps reserve is the perfect place for investing with untapped potential and a bevy of prime real estate locations available. and the money it generates to construct and operate a water treatment plant. We now have band members who are certified water plant technicians and who are employed and operate these facilities. We have trained waste water technicians and other providers of municipal services such as road clearing and garbage collection for both the First Nation and Non-First Nation communities on our lands. Leasing and Development The band has approved a new amendment that will enable TIB to administer leases up to 49 years and to remove a requirement for five year rent reviews. The amendment will also enable band council authority over subleases, mortgages or rents. A certificate of possession is similar to a corporate share, allowing a First Nations member to possess reserve land. Visit www.tkemlups.ca for the full leasing process.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS

As a business service centre, we help investors, developers, potential partners and related stakeholders who have questions about doing business with the TIB. Develop new business Attract potential investors and partners Manage and grow our existing business units Seek new and exciting opportunities

We would be happy to share with you the process for doing business on/off reserve.

REAL ESTATE, LEASING AND DEVELOPMENT

MINING

Residential Real Estate Sun Rivers Resor t Community is a nationally and internationally recognized real estate development that is the first geothermal community in Canada. It stands as a clear example of productive partnerships between First Nations and the community at large. With an expected full build out of two thousand homes, Sun Rivers success shows that First Nations can be effective partners with developers and our reputation was a key component in attracting individual homeowners to make their biggest personal investment on lands we lease to them. We have leveraged this development

In 2008, New Gold Inc. and the Stkemlupsemc of the Secwepemc Nation (SSN - Tkemlps Indian Band and Skeetchestn Indian Band), signed a joint participation agreement relating to New Golds Afton Mine Project. In 2010 the SSN signed a historic Mining and Minerals Agreement with the Province of British Columbia. The agreement will see $30 million of mining royalties flow to the SSN over the expected 12-year life of the goldsilver-copper mine 10 kilometers west of Kamloops once it opens in 2012. With this revenue sharing agreement New Gold

also plans to employ hundreds of Secwepemc Band members and First Nation peoples at the site. The New Gold mining agreement represents a positive partnership between the mining industry and local First Nations. It has provided training and employment opportunities that are the key to breaking the poverty cycle that many First Nations grapple with. It also promotes opportunities for First Nations businesses and contractors to pursue opportunities and establish new enterprises. Blue Coral program, the Carwash features one touchless automatic wash bays and six self-serve bays. Beyond Green is certified organic and will not cause harm to the earth or your vehicle. It also offers four on-site vacuums, vehicle detailing and windshield rock chip repair services.

SECWPEMC MUSEUM AND HERITAGE PARK

The Secwpemc Museum showcases the history and legends of the Secwpemc people, along with historical photographs, illustrations and artifacts. Cultural displays extend into a 5-hectare Heritage Park located on the banks of the South Thompson River. More than a kilometer of trails lead visitors through the archaeological remains of a 2,000 year old Secwpemc winter village site, which features 3 reconstructed winter pit-houses, summer tule mat lodges and various unique food preparation structures. Also located within the Heritage Park are the unique Ethno botanical Gardens, which feature informative plaques about the traditional uses of plants and their medicinal values.

TKEMLPS PETROLEUM

The Tkemlps Petroleum is a self-serve gas station and convenience store at the corner of Shuswap Road East and Highway No.5. The Band completed this project as one of the first successful economic revenue generation strategies in 2004. Over the past seven years, the gas station has become one of the most successful economic ventures in the bands business portfolio creating both jobs and revenue. With an extremely competitive gas market, the band is currently exploring branding oppor tunities by converting to a major/national gas supplier. This will help attract a broader market segment to the retail outlet and also help generate greater revenue.

SPIYU7ULLUCW RANCH CORPORATION

The Spiyu7ullucw Ranch, formally the Harper Ranch, is a 500 acre historical agricultural site. It features 500 acres of freehold land and 200 acres of pastures. It was a piece of the Douglas Reserve specific land claim that was resolved. The TIB purchased the Ranch back in 1999 and made its final mortgage payment in 2008. The Ranch is governed by a Board of Directors; there is a contract manager (a TIB band member) in place and operations are carried out by the contract managers crew. The ranch has quality irrigated alfalfa hay and a

TKEMLPS CARWASH

The Tkemlps Carwash is located just south of the Tkemlps Petroleum. The Carwash opened in July 2009 and has been increasing its customer base ever since. Located just off the Yellowhead Highway, the Carwash is well situated for high visibility and good access. Proud to be Beyond Green certified through Ecolabs

calf/cow operation for an organic, range fed market. It is a featured site with the Thompson Nicola Film Commission as a top site in the Shuswap for filming.

TOURISM

We host one of the largest Pow Wows in Canada. The Kamloopa Pow Wow Society coordinates this event. The Kamloopa Pow Wow regularly attracts tens of thousands of visitors and dancers. Our pow wow Arbor is among the best and in close proximity to our museum and outdoor cultural displays. Our plan is to make better use of the Arbor and operate a Recreational Vehicle facility in this area to attract more traffic to our museum and cultural facilities as well as boost business for our nearby consumer retail operations. Aboriginal Tourism BC is currently performing a feasibility study and creating a business case. Our goal is to operate one of the largest cultural tourism attractions in the province. Related to this is a separate site adjacent to the City of Kamloops new Softball City complex. We are currently completing plans and exploring partnership opportunities to develop this site into a separate R.V. facility. Again, our objective would be to run a profitable business that creates opportunities for employment and expressions of our culture as Secwpemc people.

SAGEBRUSH DOWNS
Sagebrush Downs is a 61 acre redevelopment site in the centre of Mt. Paul Industrial Park. Currently home to the longest horse track in the interior with over 150 stalls, it is mainly used as a winter training facility. However, its location in the centre of a 300 plus tenant industrial park, and excellent rail and highway access, makes it a prime site. A feasibility study for the site will be conducted before 2012. Canadian Nationals rail line and Highway #5. For detailed study on the intermodal terminal please visit Venture Kamloops website. We are currently looking for a developer interested in spearheading this opportunity.

BUSINESS, PARTNERSHIPS AND JOINT VENTURE OPPORTUNITIES

CHIEF LOUIS CENTRE

The TIB Business Development Department is always looking for new and exciting business opportunities and partnerships. We have Business and Economic Development opportunities in the following sectors: Real Estate Development Joint Ventures/Partnerships Agriculture Leasing Mining Forestry Tourism If you have exciting business development opportunities you would like to further explore, we would love to hear from you. For more information, please contact the Business Development Department at (250) 828-9802 or visit us at www.tkemlupsbusiness.ca.

The Chief Louis Centre (CLC) is an existing 120 acre fully serviced business and government riverside development. It has an existing customer base of 28,900 and a 2015 projected base of 42,400. It is immediately adjacent to a daily drive-by of 24,900. A Colliers Retail Demand Study concludes that the site could support 40,000 sq. ft. of retail space by 2018. As the Centre currently has less than 5,000 sq. ft. of retail space, we are currently seeking interested retail tenants and commercial space developers. A recently completed CLC Master Plan also identified an excellent hotel site on the property. It would be the only hotel in the area on Highway #5 BCs principal north south artery and the first one visible from Highway #1, for west bound traffic. It is an outstanding riverside location suitable for a 250 350 room development.

7 MILE BUSINESS PARK (PROPOSED)

The 7 Mile Business Park is a 220 acre (89 ha) parcel of flat virgin land that has immediate access to both
