INTRODUCTION 1.1 This memorandum serves to outline the nature of the pilot study pertains to the format of the examination material for Mathematics P2 and Technical Mathematics P2. 1.2 In striving to remain at the forefront of innovation and improvement, the Directorate: Examinations Management has embarked on a significant development strategy regarding the format of the forthcoming Preparatory Examinations for Mathematics Paper 2 and Technical Mathematics Paper 2. As part of this pilot study, we have integrated the question paper with the answer book into a single document for each of these subjects. This initiative aims to enhance the examination process by providing a more streamlined and cohesive assessment environment for our candidates. 2. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS: 2.1. Pilot Study Implementation: The combined format will be exclusively used for the Preparatory Examinations 2024 and ONLY for MATHEMATICS PAPER 2. AND TECHNICAL MATHEMATICS PAPER 2. This pilot study will enable us to assess the effectiveness of this approach and identify necessary adjustments prior to any potential wider implementation. 2.2 NSC Examinations - OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2024: Please note that the National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examinations in October/November 2024 NOT adopt this combined format. The traditional format of a separate question paper and answer book will prevail for the final examination. 2.3 Feedback and Evaluation: Your feedback is crucial for the continued success of this pilot project. We urge principals/chief invigilators and district managers to provide their observations and comments on this new format through the designated reporting channels.
