Aegislash

Aegislash is a ghost and steel type that was


introduced in Generation 6. It evolves from
Honedge and then Doublade, which both
share the same typing. It appears to
resemble a possessed sword and shield. In
the anime, Aegislash played a big role in
the 17th Pokemon movie, Diancie and the
Cocoon of Destruction. It serves as the
main Pokemon of Argus Steel, who serves
as the main villain of the movie.

Gengar

Gengar is a ghost and poison type that was


introduced in Generation 1. It evolves from
Gastley and then Haunter, which both share
the same typing. It appears to be based on
a cartoonish ghost or a distorted shadow of
a human. In the anime, Gengar is a
member of Ash Ketchum’s team. We also
see it as the main part of several other
trainer’s teams, including Morty and Agatha.

Dragapult

Dragapult is a ghost and dragon type that


was introduced in Generation 8. It evolves
from Dreepy and then Drakloak, which both
share the same typing. It is rumored to be
based on a Diplocaulus, which is an extinct
amphibian.

Chandelure

Chandelure is a ghost and fire type that was


introduced in Generation 5. It evolves from
Litwick and then Lampent, which both share
the same typing. It is supposed to resemble
a chandelier.

Sableye

Sableye is a ghost and dark type that was


introduced in Generation 3. It does not
evolve from anything nor does it evolve into
anything else. It appears to be based on
Hopkinsville Goblin, which was an alleged
encounter with aliens.

Mimikyu

Mimikyu is a ghost and fairy type that was


introduced in Generation 7. It does not
evolve from anything nor does it evolve into
anything else. It uses a disguise to make
itself look like a Pikachu. In the anime,
Mimikyu was once caught by Jessie of
Team Rocket.

Dhelmise

Dhelmise is a ghost and grass type that


was introduced in Generation 7. It does not
evolve from anything nor does it evolve into
anything else. It resembles an anchor and
ship’s wheel that is wrapped in seaweed.

Golurk

Golurk is a ghost and ground combination


that was introduced in Generation 5. It
evolves from Golett, which also shares the
same typing. It appears to be a golem and
giant robot combination.

Drifblim

Drifblim is a ghost and flying type that was


introduced in Generation 4. It evolves from
Drifloon, which also shares the same
typing. It is clearly based on a hot air
balloon. In the anime, Drifblim is one of the
main Pokemon of Fantina, who is the
Leader of Hearthome City’s Gym.

Phoebe, who is a member of the

Fantina, who is the Gym

Here are some random pieces of trivia
about the type that we found interesting but
couldn’t find any space for.

11 ghosts were introduced in


Generation 7, which is the most of
any. This included Decidueye,
Oricorio, Sandygast, Palossand,
Mimikyu, Dhelmise, Lunala,
Necrozma, Blacephalon,
Marshadow, and Marowak.
The first pure ghost type was
Misdreavus, who was introduced in
Generation 2.
