STOP CYBERBULLYING
Cyberbullying is the intimidation of individuals with the
use of digital technologies. For this term of Technology
Education, our group was required to design a
communication medium to educate the students of our
school on cyberbullying. Our communication medium should
be available to all students and staff on the school’s
compound, be informative (inclusive of coping strategies and
techniques), cater to the differently abled and cost no more
than fifty dollars. All appropriate resources are approved by
our teacher.

products in a business. Thirdly, you can use it to find
out more information on a place or item. Fourthly, it
can help someone develop their interests on a certain
topic. Finally, many use social media to entertain
themselves.
Some examples of social media are

images. It can include sharing private or embarrassing
photos or videos without consent, spreading rumours,
impersonating or excluding someone online or sending
threats and sexual remarks.
Cyberbullying is a serious problem, especially for
students. Some ways to prevent this are
 Use privacy tools and settings
 Keep personal things private
 Manage location sharing
 Teach children to think before posting
 Log out after you are finished using a public device
 Counteract negative posts with positive ones
 Stand up for those who are bullied
 Refuse to respond to cyberbullies
c) Examples of Communication Media
Some examples of communication media are
1) Newspapers
A newspaper is a valuable source of getting up-to-date
information. It provides you with knowledge about
events that occurred recently or are currently
happening.
6
2) Posters

7
POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1 – YOUTUBE
i) Youtube is a platform on which you can upload,
share and comment on videos. It can be used to post a
video about cyberbullying, how it affects people’s lives
and how to stop it.
8
POSSIBLE SOLUTION 2 – POSTER
ii) A poster is a visual medium that conveys key
information and can quickly capture the attention of
passers-by. They can be a highly effective method of
advertising a product, event or topic such as
cyberbullying.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION 3 – NEWSPAPER

iii) A newspaper contains articles about
occurrences in the world, a particular country,
region or local community. It covers many
subjects such as politics, business, sports and
entertainment. You can also pay money for an

9
advertisement in the newspaper so it can be used
to call attention to the subject of cyberbullying.

YOUTUBE
Advantages:
 You can access it without paying money.
 You can share your opinion on the topic in the
video by writing a comment in the comments
section.
Disadvantages:

10
 It is easy to cyberbully others anonymously in the
comment
 It is easy to spread a rumour about someone
because the video with the rumour could become
very popular so many people would see it.

POSTERS
Advantages:
 You can use it to communicate information easily.
 You can use it to raise awareness about a topic.

Disadvantages:
 Weather conditions can damage or destroy the
posters because they are always exposed to the
weather.
 Posters can be easily taken down or vandalized by
other individuals.

NEWSPAPERS
Advantages:

11
 Newspapers are a traditional means of
communication so elderly people are more likely
to read it instead of using modern technology.
 Usually, newspapers are not very expensive so
many people will be able to afford it, therefore a
lot of people will read it.
Disadvantages:
 Younger people, who are affected more by
cyberbullying, will probably use new inventions
such as Youtube, instead of reading newspapers.
 Newspapers are a form of communication that
costs money while there are many free
communication platforms on the Internet which
people can use.
