Word Equation : Just write the elements in word form.

Skeleton Equation : An unbalanced equation

Balanced Equation : A balanced equation

9.2

There are 5 reactions, and they are:

1. Combination Reaction

– A + B —> AB ( Synthesis of 2 elements )

2. Decomposition Reaction

– 1 Reactant -> Product + Product

– AB —> A + B

3. Single Replacement Reaction

– A + BC —> B + AC

4. Double Replacement Reaction

– AB + CD —> AC + BD
5. Combustion Reaction

– 2A + O₂ —> 2AO

Aqueous Solution :

Contains one or more substances called solute dissolved in the water. In this case water is the
solvent the most plentiful substance in the solution.

Solution is a homogenous mixture.

Types of reactions that take place in

aqueous solution:

1. Reactions that form precipitate

It’s when a solid forms.

2. Reactions that form water

When water is formed. H2O.

3. Reactions that form gases

When gas is formed.

When gas is formed.

Balancing :

I understand this, but be careful.

Ionic Equation :

Separate the elements by them self, and be sure to balance them out, or else it’s wrong. And you
need to put if each element is gas/liquid/precipitate.

Net Ionic Equation :

the net ionic equation is when you cross out the spectator ions and only the ions that participate
in forming the reaction are there.

Spectator Ions :

the spectator ions are the ones that do not participate in the reaction and you find them just by
crossing out the ions with charges that cancel out on each side.

Examples :
Mole :
Avogardo’s Number : 6.022 × 10²³

A mole is the SI basic unit used to measure the amount of matter in a substance.

Molar Mass is taken from the periodic table, and is measured in g/mol. It’s found under the
elements name. M

You can as-well find the molar mass of multiple elements by:

Moles can be explained simply in those two Doritos :
