Study guide: Comms 351 (News Literacy) Final Exam

The exam will be emailed to you on the last day of class (December 7). Please be sure your email of record with the university is correct. It will be a Word (.doc) le in which you will write your responses. When you have nished your responses, please change the le name to your last name (for example, if you last name was John Smith, you would name it smith.doc or smith.docx) then upload it to turnitin.com before December 16 at 11:59 p.m. Instructions for submitting to this site can also be found on the class website. Because turnitin.com will generate analysis of duplicative work (that is, anything that is not your original writing), you must properly cite any quotes you usewhether from the textbook or from any other source. The exam covers the topics presented in class since the midterm exam. The exam consists of four questionseach worth 25 pointsthat should elicit essaystyle answers. Your responses will be graded on how thoughtfully and completely they answer the questions, using specic examples from your assigned readings, the lectures, and news events. Spelling and grammar will also be considered. It is open book, meaning you are free to consult your textbooks or notes. However, you are expected to work on your own. Please try to limit the time you spend on this exam so as to not interfere with your other exams. Try to take it as you would if you were doing it in the Testing Center. You can best prepare for this exam by being current on your reading assignments (chapters 8 & 9 of Kovach & Rosensteil and chapters 6 through 1 of Gilmor), as well as by reviewing your notes and the material on the class website. Good luck, everyone!
