BCCI Set to Introduce Women Umpires in Ranji Trophy/रणजी

By officiating in the Ranji Trophy,
three female umpires — Vrinda
Rathi, Janani Narayan, and
Gayathri Venugopalan — are set
to break new ground this season.
 In a first, BCCI is all set to draft female umpires in Ranji Trophy this
season Three umpires are all set to start officiating matches from the
second round of the Ranji Trophy

The BCCI had earlier implemented same salary structure for male and

The tournament starts on December 13 across multiple venues in the

country. The final will be held from February 16, 2023.

In the 2021-22 edition, Madhya Pradesh won its maiden title after
beating Mumbai by six wickets in the final. Mumbai is the most
successful team in the history of the tournament with 41 titles.

The series was announced in 1934, and the initial fixtures took place in
1934-35. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala donated the trophy.

The Government of India has appointed Justice Tashi
Rabstan as the Acting Chief justice of the High Court of
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

He has replaced incumbent Chief Justice Ali Mohd

Magrey, who retired on 7th December 2022.

Justice Rabstan had enrolled as an Advocate on 6th

March 1990 in Bar Council of J&K.

She lost to Jiang Huihua from China, who won

the gold with a total effort of 206kg

Yoginder K Alagh has been passed away at the
age of 83.

He taught economics at prestigious Indian and

foreign universities, including IIM-Calcutta.

He has also worked as the vice-chancellor of

JNU, Delhi.

From 1996-98, he also served as minister of

power, planning, and programme and served
as a member of Planning Commission.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the
appointment of Hrishikesh Kanitkar as the Batting Coach of the
Senior Women’s cricket team. Kanitkar will take charge of the team
from the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia starting
9th December in Mumbai.

The Indian national women cricket team has been without a head
coach for the past two months since the completion of the tenure of
Romesh Powar.

Hrishikesh Kanitkar was the head coach of the under -19 men’s
cricket team which won the world cup held in West Indies in 2022.

The U19 T20 World Cup will take place in the South African

Sixteen teams have been divided into four groups. India are
in Group D of the Under-19 World Cup along with South

RBI’s Monetary Policy meeting

Oxford English Dictionary has selected “goblin
mode” as the 2022 Oxford word of the year.

It refers to a type of behavior which is an

IMD issue warning of formation of Cyclone Mandous over Bay of

According to the India Meteorological
Department (IMD), a new tropical cyclone is
likely to form over the Bay of Bengal and is going
to impact Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra
Pradesh on 6-8 December 2022. The cyclonic
storm has been named 'Cyclone Mandous'
which means a treasure box in the Arabic
language. The name of the cyclone has been
given by the United Arab Emirates.

According to the IMD a low pressure area that

has formed over the south Andaman Sea is
likely to concentrate into a depression over
Southeast Bay of Bengal.
The coastal areas are going to receive heavy
rainfall due to the formation of the cyclonic
storm.

'Cyclone Mandous' will be the third tropical

storm to rise in Bay of Bengal this year after
'Cyclone Sitrang' which hit the Bangladesh
coast in the month of October. The name
Sitrang was given by Thailand.

The first cyclonic storm of the season was

Asani which formed in the Bay of Bengal in
May month. The Asani name was given by Sri
Lanka to the cyclonic storm.
