❖ Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls very likely at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya;
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; heavy rainfall at isolated
places over Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Coastal & North Interior Karnataka.
❖ Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & squally winds (speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph)
very likely at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh; with lightning, gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph
at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal and Interior Karnataka; with
lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Bihar,
Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Telangana; with
lightning at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat
state, Kerala & Mahe and Coastal Karnataka.
❖ Heat wave conditions to severe heat wave conditions very likely in many parts over Uttar Pradesh; in isolated
pockets over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand. Heat wave conditions in some
parts over Uttarakhand; in isolated pockets over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh,
north Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
❖ Warm night conditions very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over West Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh.
❖ Squally weather with wind speed 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph very likely to prevail over central parts
of Arabian sea, along and off south Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala coasts, adjoining Lakshadweep,
Comorin areas, Gulf of Mannar, off Sri Lanka coast, south & central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal, north Andaman
Sea. Squally weather with wind speed 45 kmph to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to prevail over Somalia
coast, southwest and adjoining west central Arabian sea, along and off Odisha coast. Fishermen are advised not to
venture into these areas.

14 June (Day 2):

❖ Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls very likely at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West
Bengal & Sikkim; Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya; heavy rainfall at isolated
places over Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.
❖ Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & squally winds (speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph)

16 June (Day 4):

❖ Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls likely at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya; Heavy
to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh; heavy
rainfall at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Kerala & Mahe.
❖ Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) likely at isolated
places over East Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand; with lightning & gusty winds

IMPACT & ACTION SUGGESTED due to Heat Wave Conditions:
Red Alert Areas: Bihar, Jharkhand on 13th &14th; East Uttar Pradesh during 13th-15th; West Uttar Pradesh
during 13th-16th;
Orange Alert Areas: Gangetic West Bengal on 13th & 14th; Bihar, Jharkhand on 15th; Haryana-Chandigarh-
Delhi, Punjab during 13th-17th;
Yellow Alert Areas: Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Division, northeast Madhya Pradesh during 13th-16th;
Uttarakhand, north Chhattisgarh during 13th-14th; northwest Madhya Pradesh on 14th & 15th; northwest
Rajasthan on 13th & 17th June, 2024.
Red alert Areas
➢ Very high likelihood of developing heat illness and heat stroke in all ages.
➢ Extreme care needed for vulnerable people.
Orange alert Areas:
➢ High temperature & increased likelihood of heat illness symptoms in people who are either
exposed to sun for a prolonged period or doing heavy work.
➢ High health concern for vulnerable people e.g. infants, elderly, people with chronic diseases.
➢ Avoid heat exposure– keep cool. Avoid dehydration.
➢ Drink sufficient water- even if not thirsty.
➢ Use ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, buttermilk, etc. to
keep yourself hydrated.
Yellow alert Areas:
➢ Moderate temperature & heat is tolerable for general public but moderate health concern
likely for vulnerable people e.g. infants, elderly, people with chronic diseases.
➢ Avoid heat exposure.
➢ Wear lightweight, light colour, loose, cotton clothes.
➢ Cover your head, use a cloth, hat or umbrella.

IMPACT & ACTION SUGGESTED due to very heavy/extremely heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West
Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya during 13th-17th June, 2024.
Impact Expected
➢ Localized Flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses mainly in
urban areas of the above region.
➢ Occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall.
➢ Disruption of traffic in major cities due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel time.
➢ Minor damage to kutcha roads.
➢ Possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure.
➢ Localized Landslides/Mudslides/landslips/mudslips/landsinks/mudsinks.
➢ Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.
➢ It may lead to riverine flooding in some river catchments (for riverine flooding please visit Web page of

Action Suggested
➢ Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.
➢ Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
➢ Avoid going to areas that face the water logging problems often.
➢ Avoid staying in vulnerable structure.

Agromet advisories for Heavy Rainfall, Gusty winds, Hail Storms and Heat Wave likely over various
parts of the country;
➢ Make provision for draining out excess water from crop fields to avoid water stagnation in Arunachal
Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Konkan, Coastal
Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.
➢ Apply light and frequent irrigation to standing crops to avoid heat stress; provide mulching to conserve soil
moisture and minimise evaporation in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab,
Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, North-East & North- West Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, Bihar,
Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.
➢ Provide mechanical support to horticultural crops & staking to vegetables to prevent damage from
gusty winds.
