HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF FLEXCUM
INSTITUTE
The evolution of FLEXCUM is quite remarkable. It has been in existence since the year
2000 and at that time it was located at Meta Quarters and it was known at that time as FLEXCUM
ASSOCIATE ENGINEERING. Later on, this institution moved from metta quarter residence to its
current location at city chemist

However, in 2007 after its approval by the ministry employment and vocational training that is
NO21/MINEFOP/SG/DFOP/SGSE/SACDO7 and with many persons seeking to be computer
literate, they acquired another space for lecturers at Mitaccul House of SONAC street.

Meanwhile from its modest beginning this institute has given birth to other subsidiaries as
FLEXCUM ICT technique and FLEXCUM TECHNOLOGIES. Likewise, a language center for the
guineans studying English as a second language.

 CHAPTER TWO
ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT:
A. REPORT ON THE REINSTALLATION OF WINDOWS 10 AND OFFICE SUITE ON A
DELL LAPTOP
2.1. Introduction
This report outline the process of reinstalling the windows 10 operating system and office
suite on a dell laptop. The reinstallation was necessary to address system errors, improve
performances and ensure optimal functionality.

2.2. Objectives
The objectives of the reinstallation included:

 Reinstalling the windows 10 operating system to ensure a clean and stable environment.
 Installing the office suite to enable productivity tasks such as document creation spreadsheet
management and presentation design.
 Resolving existing system errors and performance issues.
 Ensuring that all necessary drivers e.g.(Audio drivers, graphics drivers and sensory drivers)
and updates are installed for perfect hardware functionality.

2.3. Preparation
Before proceeding with the reinstallation the following preparations were made:

 Important data and files were backed up to an external storage device to prevent data loss
 The windows 10 installation media which was a USB drive in this case and the office suite
installation files were obtained.
 Necessary drivers and updates for Dell laptop’s hardware components were downloaded and
stored for post-installation use.

Process of installing operating system windows 10 on a dell laptop

 Requirement
 USB drive
 A program to make the USB drive bootable(RUFUS)
 The image of the O.S (Windows 10)
 A dell laptop
 Procedure

 Backup Data: Important data and files to an external storage were backed up device.
 Create a bootable USB: The RUFUS was used to create a bootable USB drive with
windows 10 installation files
 BIOS setting: The dell laptop was started and the BIOS setting accessed by pressing
key F2 or F12 to select the boot sequence to be used whether MBR or GPT(UEFI) in
this case GPT was chosen, after which was applied and used.
 Boot Order: The laptop was restarted and the boot order was configured to prioritize
booting from the USB drive

 Windows 10 installation: The bootable USB drive was inserted and the laptop
restarted to initiate the windows 10 installation process

 Setup: the onscreen prompts was followed to select language, time and keyboard
preferences and initiate installation.

 Custom installation: The custom installation option was chosen to perform a clean
installation.

  Partitioning: Selected the installation partition and format it (if necessary) before
proceeding with the installation.

OFFICE SUIT INSTALLATION

i. After the windows 10 installation was completed, the office suite installation process was
initiated.
ii. The office suite setup file was used to install the suite (Microsoft office)
iii. Language preferences and installation options were selected.
iv. The installation progress was monitored and the standard desktop icons were added and the
necessary updates like the VLC, Mavis Beacon and Chrome were installed as needed.

Driver Installation
Drivers are essential software components that facilitate communication between hardware
device and the operating system of the computer.

Necessary drivers and updates for the dell laptop’s hardware components for example;
Graphics drivers(or display drivers, Audio driver, sensory drivers or input/output driver) were
installed after windows 10 installation.

 Testing
Following the reinstallation, testing was conducted to validate the functionality and performance of
the Dell Laptop:

 Basic functionality: System functions such as booting, shutdown and application launching
were tested.
 Software functionality: Each installed software application was tested to ensure proper
functioning
 Hard ware compatibility: Hardware components were tested to ensured alignment with
installed drivers

B. T-shirt printing, banners and role up production

i. T-shirt Printing: it involves several steps:

Design: clients provide artwork and design which are then digitize and prepared for printing.

Printing method: various printing method such as screen printing, heat transfer, direct-to-garment
(DTG) printing. and sublimation printing can be used depending on the design quality, fabrics and
complexity type.

Material collection: the type of t-shirt, (cotton blend polyester) affects the printing method and final
result.

Printing process: once the design is prepared and the design material selected, the printing process
begins, followed by curling and drying to set the ink.

Quality control: finished t shirt under quality checks to ensure color accuracy, print alignment and
overall quality.

ii. Banner production: banners are commonly used for advertising

- Designs and sizing: clients provide arts work and specification for banners design, including
size, color, and content.
- Material selection: banner materials varies depending on usage such as vinyl, mesh, or
canvas.
- Printing process: large-format printing techniques such as digital printing or wide-format
inkjet printing are used to produce banners

 - Finishing: banners maybe hemmed or welded to reinforce edges and provide attarchment
points for hanging or mounting
- Installation: banners can be installed using pole pockets adhesive backing or frames
depending on the location purpose

C. GENERAL CLEAN-UP

Daily chores like fetching of water, clean-up of the work space and cleaning of the institute
environment as a whole was carried out first thing in the morning before the official time of work
which was 8am.

OUTCOME OF INTERNSHIP
3.1 Difficulties encountered
 Old version of operating system: I had to update my operating system as my system needed
updates which made me slow down my level of activities.
 Insecurity and immobility: these was due to the lockdown days which kept us from going to
work.
 Network problem: We face a lot of challenges due to the network and this slow down our
work in the aspect of connecting to the internet to make some research.
 There was constant electricity failure encountered during my period of internship in the
FLEXCOM institute

3.2 Solutions/Recommendations
 Old version of operating system: The operating system version was updted for better
understanding and for better accuracy.
 Insecurity and immobility: assignments were given to work while at home
 Network problem: we had to use Wi-Fi box and switch to the internet connection that is
favorable.
 Electricity failure: generators were available but was only turn on when there was a task to
perfor,

CONCLUSION
The reinstallation of windows 10 and the office suite on the Dell laptop was completed
successfully, achieving the project objectives. The system is now free from errors, optimized for
performance and ready for productive use. Following this report, the reinstallation of windows 10
and office suite on a Dell laptop was executed effectively resulting in a stable and functional
computing environment for productivity task.
