Big Head Baby Doll

Disclaimer: I am not, and do not claim to be, the original designer of this wonderful pattern.
It is believed that the original designer is Marina Zakharova. I noticed that others were having trouble
deciphering the original, so I chose to use my experience as a long­time crocheter and pattern­reader to
rewrite the pattern in a useable format.

Materials: Any worsted weight yarn in two or more colors.

Stiffer yarn works better, such as Red Heart Super Saver.
Crochet Hook size F
Stitch markers or scrap yarn to mark the beginning of the round.
Safety eyes, beads, or your preferred method for embroidering eyes.

This pattern does not include the hat. This doll has such a huge head, in proportion to it’s body, you can use
nearly any baby hat pattern.

Leg (Make 2)
Color A

Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring ­ pull ring closed ­ do not join (6)

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12)
Round 3: (1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around (18)
Round 4: (1 sc in each of next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st) repeat once (20)
Round 5­13: 1 sc in each st around (20)

Leave a 6” tail on first leg to sew the gap closed. Do not fasten off second leg.

Two legs worked up to round 13. Second leg is not fastened off.
First leg. First & last stitches marked.
Round 14 worked around second leg. Single crochet into first stitch of first leg, and each stitch around.
Round 14 completed.

Leave 6­inch tail for sewing.

Attach to each side of round 23 on body

Knit Scarf
Size 8 16” circular needles, worsted weight yarn
Cast on 60 sts, join to form a ring
Round 1­6: (k1, p1) around
Bind off in pattern.
Weave in ends.

Double up scarf and slip on over body.

Skirt
In round 17 of body:
Rnd 1: add skirt color in front loops only. 2 dc in front loop only of each stitch around. To join, double crochet
decrease in last stitch and first stitch, to close gap.
Rnd 2: 2dc in each stitch around.
Rnd 3: 1hdc in each stitch around.
Fasten off.

Continue body in BLO of round 17.
