Trump
Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States, is a figure whose influence extends
beyond politics into business, media, and popular culture. Born on June 14, 1946, in Queens,
New York, Trump built a real estate empire before transitioning into television and, ultimately,
politics.
Donald Trump was the fourth of five children of Fred and Mary Trump. He attended the New
York Military Academy and later the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania,
graduating in 1968 with a degree in economics. He joined his father’s real estate business, the
Trump Organization, focusing on residential projects in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.
In the 1980s, Trump expanded into Manhattan, developing iconic properties such as the Grand
Hyatt New York, Trump Tower, and several casinos in Atlantic City. His business ventures
extended to golf courses, hotels, and branding deals worldwide. Despite experiencing several
bankruptcies in his casino businesses, Trump maintained a prominent position in the real estate
industry and became a symbol of wealth and success.
**Media Presence**
Trump's media career began in earnest with his bestselling book "The Art of the Deal" (1987),
which cemented his image as a shrewd businessman. He gained further fame as the host of the
reality TV show "The Apprentice," which aired from 2004 to 2015. The show's success helped
Trump cultivate a public persona of a decisive and successful executive, boosting his national
profile.
**Political Career**
**Presidency (2017-2021)**
Trump's presidency was marked by significant policy changes and controversies. Domestically,
he pursued tax cuts, deregulation, and a conservative judiciary. His administration enacted the
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and appointed three Supreme Court justices. Trump's approach
to immigration included attempts to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and the
implementation of travel bans on several predominantly Muslim countries.
Internationally, Trump prioritized "America First" policies, renegotiating trade deals, withdrawing
from the Paris Agreement on climate change, and engaging in high-stakes diplomacy with North
Korea. His tenure saw heightened tensions with China, leading to a trade war with significant
global economic implications.
**Post-Presidency**
After losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, Trump continued to assert unfounded claims of
widespread electoral fraud. These claims culminated in the storming of the U.S. Capitol by his
supporters on January 6, 2021, leading to a second impeachment by the House on charges of
incitement of insurrection. He was acquitted by the Senate in February 2021.
