Development of Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning Practice In Greater Dhaka

Contact Package No: URP/RAJUK/S-5

Consultant: JV of NKY Architectural & Engineering Co., Turkey
Project objectives

 Review, enrich and strengthen the current planning regulation.

 Ensure that DSP (2016-2035) and DAPs are risk-sensitive

Project Methodologies

 Planning knowledge base

 Seismic Hazard Assessment and microzonation
 Geotechnical survey
 Earthquake risk assessment
 Land Subsidence Hazard
 Flood Risk Assessment

Geotechnical survey
The geotechnical surveys are designed to provide the data for following analyses:

1. Site response analysis

2. Soil bearing capacity
3. Liquefaction assessment
(Above all’s are Base on SPT, CPT, SCPT, Downhole 400 field tests & Lab tests
analysis results)

For Main Purpose Cross-validation or Correlation

Importance of SEA (Strategic Environmental Assessments)

a) To provide information for decision makers, the community about the environmental impacts,
policies, plans and programs at the very early stages of planning and consequently, improving
decision making process.
b) To ensure sustainable development at the stage of planning and development.
c) To develop and upgrade non-environmental organizations by designing a sustainable program.
Approaches to be Made for this Project
i) Studying 2007 SEA Report
ii) Analyzing relevant research articles, reports and books.
iii) Site Visits, Data Collections, Field Works.
iv) Meeting, Interviews with Stakeholders (i.e. consulting firm, educational institutes,
industries etc.), Online Surveys.
v) Promoting website (www.dhakaurpsea.org), social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram,
LinkedIn, Twitter etc.), advertisements.
vi) Arrange workshops to discuss about the problems and solutions of environmental
issues, ideas to minimize it.
vii) Revise the findings.
viii) Evaluating by SEA specialists with different background.
ix) Preparing interim report.
x) Preparing draft final report.
xi) Submit the Final Report on approval.
xii) Plan Implementation.

Finally, Go through HOPE

• we have Updated plan,

1. We will conduct SEA validation.
• After reviewing the 44 borehole data:
1. We will submit the updated geotechnical survey plan (MD3.3).
• After getting the approval for framework (MD3.2) :
1. We will start to conduct flood hazard assessment.
2. We will start to conduct liquefaction assessment.
3. We will start to conduct seismic microzonation.
