of this class and answer the following:

o What is the status of this class?

_______________________

o What are the descriptions of the characteristics?

You want to describe bolts that you have in inventory using such properties as
‘length’ and ‘basic material’ so that you can find them later more easily. Proceed
as follows:

Create characteristic T_F6## with the following data:

Initial screen
Characteristic name: T_F6##

Basic data
o Description: Length Group ##
o Status: Released
o Entry required: Yes
o Data type: Numeric (NUM)
o No. of chars: 3
o Decimal places: 1
o Unit: mm (millimeters)
Select the Values tab so you can enter:
Values: 3
6
12

Save your characteristic.

Create a reference characteristic to represent the field ‘Basic Material’ on the

Basic Data 2 screen of the material master.

To find the table and field name for ‘Basic Material’, display the Basic Data 2
view of any material master (you can use material P- 100). Place your cursor on
the Basic Material field and choose F1, then Technical Data to view the
information you need.

Initial screen

Characteristic name: T_F600_##

Additional data
o Table name: ________________
o Field Name: ________________

Once you press Enter, the system will automatically default the formatting
information from the Data Dictionary so you don’t have to manually maintain
these fields.

Save your characteristic.

Create class C_## with the following data:

Initial screen
o Class name: C_##
o Class type: 001

Basic data
o Description: Class group ##
o Status: Released

Characteristics
o Characteristic: T_F6##

process it. You can also find materials using the Classification search functions.

Let’s see if you can find any bolts that have a length of 6mm.Use the Find
Objects in Classes function to perform this search. Enter your class C_## and
Class Type 001.
