DOMAIN

After reading this INFORMATION SHEET,


LEARNER(S)/TRAINEE(S) MUST be able to:
1. To join domain using
a. Windows 7 Client
b. Windows 10 Client
PREPARING YOUR CLIENT WORKSTATION
Note: This method is also applicable using Windows 10 OS
1. Press windows + r in your keyboard then type ncpa.cpl then click OK

2. Local area connection will appear. Right click Local Area Connection then click
Properties.

3. Click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) then click Properties

4. Add the following network configuration

Where:

Setting Value

IP address any valid but not duplicated ip


address range from 1-254

E.g.
192.168.0.11

Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Default gateway IP address of router / wap

E.g. 192.168.0.1
Preferred DNS Server Server’s IP address

E.g. 192.168.0.10

5. Click OK

6. Click CLOSE.
JOIN DOMAIN USING WINDOWS 7
1. On the Taskbar, click Start, right-click Computer and click Properties

2. Click Change Setting

3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Computer Name tab and click
the Change button.

Note: If the computer is running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Basic or Starter the
Domain radio is disabled, indicating that the computer is not allowed to join a domain.

4. After specifying the name of the computer and the domain to join, click OK You
would be asked to provide a user name and a password for a user who has the
permissions to let a computer join a domain.

5. Type the username of users with admin privilege which allowed a computer to
join a domain > press Tab then type the account's password.

6. After entering user and password, click OK, you will receive a welcome message

7. Restart your computer

8. After the computer has restarted, press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to Log On

9. Click switch user

10. Click other user

11. Type the logon name of a user who has an account in the network's domain
and press Tab then type the password click the arrow line to login. If the login
is successful Figure 16 will be prompted.

Note: In this example I used itsmeismael user’s logon with css.com domain. However, I can
also use itsmeismael@css.com username to login into css.com domain.

TASK SHEET 3.1-4

Title: Join Domain

Performance Objective: Given are the following materials, you should be


able to install active directory. Allotted time 30 minutes.

Supplies/Materials :

Equipment : Computer with Windows Server 2008 R2

Prerequisites: Installed and configured active directory, OU Users and


Groups, Windows 7 and Windows 10 workstations Steps/Procedure:
1. Read information sheet 3.1-4 Join Domain
2. Join Domain
a. Follow the instruction stated in information sheet
3.1-4
b. Join Windows 7 client workstation in to a domain
(CSS.COM). Use the first user account to login in
our domain.
c. Join Windows 10 client wireless workstation in to
a domain (CSS.COM). Use the second user account
to logging in our domain.
Note: (see the task sheet 3.1-3 Active Directory Objects OU, Users
and Groups) to find the login user names.

CSS.com is the default domain used in the entire given tasks.

The table shows the equivalent points that are used and show how they are calculated to determine
the grade point average (GPA), or index.

The highest equivalent points that trainer can give is 5 points per criterion and the lowest is 0. If the
trainee/learner accumulate scores with below two (2) grade point equivalent, she/he needs to retake
the whole given task.
