EVERY SCORE MAKES A DIFFERENCE SOLUTIONS

TASK 1 Changing the mode

1 Mode = 2
2 You can change a 2 to a 3. 0, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8
3 Many possible answers. You need more scores of 5 than any other score.
4 You must have the same number of 5s and 6s and more of them than any other score.
5 Each score must occur the same number of times eg 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 6, 6

TASK 2 Changing the median

1 Median = 17
2 Change 18 to 16, that is: 15, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18, 19, 20
3 Change 16 to 17, that is: 15, 16, 16, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20
4 No, because the two middle scores are still the same. You changed the largest score to an even larger
one so the order does not change.

TASK 3 Changing the range

1 Range = 70
2 Change the bottom score to 20 or the top score to 70.
3 Change the bottom score to 0 if your top score is 80 OR change the top score to 100 if your lowest
score is 20.
4 Only the highest and lowest scores affect the range.
