EO-BARANGAY-ROAD-CLEARING
WHEREAS, Local Government Units are mandated to maintain all local roads within their
jurisdiction as a basic service and facility, pursuant to Section 17 (b) of Republic Act 7160 or the
Local Government Code of 1991;
WHEREAS, in line with the policy of the government to ensure safety and accessibility of our roads,
DILG MC 2020-027 was issued, or the continued implementation of the Presidential Directive to
clear roads of illegal obstructions on February 7, 2020 which among others, provided guidelines for
the local government units in the conduct of road clearing within their respective localities, with
emphasis on implementation by Barangays and the clearing of barangay and tertiary roads;
WHEREAS, the clearing of roads aims to remove obstructions and illegal constructions that could
help motorists to drive better, and for pedestrians to find safe areas to walk on. Further, by
reclaiming the streets, alleys and walkways, pedestrians will be encouraged to walk thereby
promoting mobility and a healthy lifestyle. Conducting road clearing operations,
establishment/placing street signages, and street lights will make Local Government Units vibrant
and more livable.
SECTION 1: COMPOSITION.
SECTION 3: EFFECTIVITY CLAUSE. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately upon
signing.
