The A3 colour MFPs UTAX CDC 1930, CDC 1935, CDC 1945 and CDC 1950 are the
new systems in our mid-volume A3 colour portfolio. They are part of a new series of
altogether 11 new systems for mid and high speed/volume applications in colour as
well as black and white. In b/w-segment the systems CD 1435/1445/1455 are
launched for the mid-volume segment and the systems CD 1465 and CD 1480 for
high-volume segment.
The new colour models deliver the necessary quality and productivity demanded with
materials such as coated and heavy paper. By utilizing a common platform with the
middle and high speed range for colour and b/w-models, compatible enhancements
can be equipped with different speed range models, while reducing the time and
expenses necessary to complete technical training. Also inventory for parts
necessary for maintenance can be minimized, contributing to lower inventory costs.
Sales partners are not restricted to any product segment when it comes to the
question which devices they can carry, making it extremely cost beneficial to offer all
of UTAX´s medium and high speed colour and monochrome models.

Departments that require output mainly in in b/w, colour or in colour and b/w as a
mixed document. For the medium speed series, the target customers create
documents for external distribution and internal presentations. Even though it is not a
high speed device, they still expect high productivity and quality. For monochrome
output, support for multiple jobs is demanded taking into consideration the
productivity of current devices and many shared users in the office environment. As
the specified device in the shared office floor, support for local user authentication
and the ability to set user restrictions as part of output management is of more
importance than limiting the number of total users.

The new series work with a new type of developing system that is more commonly
used with high speed colour devices. The newly developed system feeds toner and
new carriers into the developing unit so the developer is always fresh to maintain
high image quality.
Toner and new carriers are mixed in the toner bottle. Toner that becomes unsuitable
from decay is delivered to the waste toner box.
The plastic coating of deteriorated carriers peal, and toner particles will begin to stick
to the surface weakening the charge. This can prevent the delivery of toner to fine
detail areas that require high image quality.

White spots are prevented when copying text. Image processing includes a gradation
correction to enhance text image values.
With the colour systems the speed of the transfer belt is permanently monitored to
control the speed of the belt motor in order to prevent colour shifting.
The drum surface is harder, adding increased protection from paper friction. In
comparison to the drum life of 300k with the predecessor series, a longer drum life of
600k is achieved. The technology with the newly developed drum realizes a hard
coated surface for durability, while being only half as thick as the coating of the
predecessor model which increases photosensitivity. This drum technology is just
one of the contributors to high image quality with this new series.

EcoPrint
It is now possible to select between five intervals of toner saving. Toner save can be
set to approximately 50/60/70/80/90% density.
Gray areas that were once printed in black created from CMYK toner are now printed
using only K toner. The merit are conserving of colour toner, improved text
recognition and decreased colour shadowing.
The demerits are that text looses luster and less image granularity.

Hue Adjustment
It is possible to change the three colour characteristics brightness, chroma and hue.
Brightness is the lightness value, chroma indicates how vivid the colour is expressed,
and hue dictates the pigment between red, yellow, green, blue, purple and other
intermediate colors. Colours are shown in respective order in the so-called ‘hue
circle.’ With the new colour series it is possible to adjust the colour hue by using the
hue circle. With the predecessor series, it was possible to adjust the hue, but not for
individual colours. When the hue of one colour was adjusted, the complementary
colour (the opposite in the hue circle) would also be adjusted, making it difficult for
the customer to specify the colour to be adjusted. By making it possible to individually
adjust hue colours, it is possible to select the colours on demand to reproduce
specific colours of the ocean, sky or mountains.

Highlighter Function
With the new colour series, fluorescent colours created from highlighted documents
are printed in colours closer to the original when the highlighter mode is selected.
Compatible highlight colors include yellow, green, orange, pink, aqua & purple.

With the new colour series, a one touch adjustment feature has been added to the
photo mode to select the optimal settings for your photo image such as portrait, blue
scenery and green scenery.
In case that ‘Portrait’ is selected, only the skin tone is adjusted, without altering other
colour parameters. Other colours do not change, making this feature different from
features in competitors´ products.

Output with the current CDC 1725-1850 series was face-down. In case of stapling
output with the finisher, it was necessary to turn over multiple sheets. With the new
series, media is output face-down, so it is not necessary to turn the media over
before stapling.
38
Sales Guide CD 1435/1445/1455/1465/1480, CDC 1930/1935/1945/1950
With the predecessor model, the media path when performing media reversal and
stapling is longer, resulting in a longer printout time. Additionally, the next set of
printouts cannot be reversed for stapling until the first set has been stapled, so that
media reversal has to be paused in-between smaller number of printouts, which will
have a negative effect on productivity.
39
Sales Guide CD 1435/1445/1455/1465/1480, CDC 1930/1935/1945/1950
The predecessor series has lower productivity with booklets because it temporarily
has to pause the traveling of the next output to be stapled while processing folding
and stapling with the first set of output for booklets. The new series achieves high
productivity by implementing the following changes.
40
Sales Guide CD 1435/1445/1455/1465/1480, CDC 1930/1935/1945/1950
The passing of media and image quality is enhanced to support various types of
media by decreasing the printing speed according to media type. Printing speed is
divided into 3 ranges according to media thickness, with the first range of thickness
maintaining a speed of 70%, and the second speed range keeping within 50% to
maximize productivity with heavy media. The second range of productivity is
maintained even when printing the heaviest media in colour, thereby achieving the
highest productivity in its class.
With the predecessor series, whenever printing in high density, it was necessary for
the printing to slow down at times in order to feed toner to maintain the printing
density. In order to maintain density, with the new colour models, it is not necessary
to decrease printing speed to further than 80% of full speed. With the new b/w series,
even if print coverage is 80%, the print speed will not slow down.
41
Sales Guide CD 1435/1445/1455/1465/1480, CDC 1930/1935/1945/1950
For colour models, when the printing speed increases, the speed of the transfer belt
has to match the faster print speed. In order to support higher speed, a precession
correction of the transfer belt is adopted.
This is a dual scan type, newly developed high speed document processor. The
document processor has a stack capacity of 175 sheets A4. The high volume models
are equipped with a document processor with a capacity of 270 sheets.
DP-770: When scanning a duplex original with the reversal sheet through method,
the DP-770 (option) reads only from the CCD of the main unit.
If an error occurs (for example Tray Empty/ Paper Size Mismatch) when printing a
job and the user does not attend to it, this feature allows that the job will
automatically be transferred to the end of the list of new incoming jobs.

The CDC 1930-1950 series is embedded with a weekly timer HyPAS application as
standard.
When this function is activated, the machine can be set to turn On and Off
automatically at a set time. In office settings where the device is shared by many
work groups without a designated IT administrator, it is possible to set an automatic
On & Off timer to avoid instances where it is forgotten to power down the machine.
This helps contribute to higher energy efficiency.

This mode places the priority on first copy time while achieving the same low noise
as the predecessor colour series. For one minute after printing, the polygon mirror
continues to run, so it is ready for the next job. After one minute, the machine enters
low energy mode and the polygon mirror switches to half speed.
Quiet Mode
This mode controls noise emissions by immediately stopping the polygon mirror and
turning off the fan after printing. Please note that the first copy time is lower than that
of the specifications when this mode is applied.
White LED
Due to the use of modern LED technology in the field of scanning, the energy
consumption could be reduced in this field.
