What are we seeing in the analytics market?

• Decline in traditional “Enterprise Reporting”


• Desire for self-service, devolved insights…

• SAC Planning: Scripting engine and data actions
• Office Integration:
– SAC now includes Analysis for Office licence
– Analysis for Office cell based commenting (for BW/4)
– Analysis for Office now (Nov 2019) includes live and acquired BW/4HANA connectivity
– (New) Analysis for Office 2.8 (Nov 2019)
– Office 365 now in Beta
• Content network enhancement

Future Developments

What does this mean for SAP BusinessObjects?
• SAP continues to support and invest in SAP BusinessObjects
– Next version (4.3) due 2020, Beta starts Dec 2019 (accepting requests now)
– Support will extend to 2027 (at least – TBC)
• “Enterprise Reporting” remains, but market is shifting to modern, cloud approach. The
SAP strategy IS hybrid…..
• Key themes for 4.3 are:

– Adobe will stop supporting and distributing the Flash player on Dec 31 2020
– SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards and SAP BusinessObjects Explorer both
depend on Flash and hence will not be available in SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.3
– Please refer the following links for additional details
• KBA 2739919 – Dashboards will be removed in BI4.3
• KBA 2729987 – BI Widgets will be removed in BI4.3
• KBA 2679783 – Explorer will sunset by end of 2020

– After Dec 31 2020, existing installations may continue to work, but will not be
supported by SAP
– SAP recommends SAP Analytics Cloud as the replacement for SAP
BusinessObjects Explorer and SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards
Conclusions
• Analytics has changed - SAP offers a unique blend of traditional vs
modern approaches
• Hybrid is key to cloud success for many organisations. With SAP Analytics
cloud your data does not go to the cloud (via Live connectivity)
• SAP Analytics Cloud goes from strength to strength – if you’ve not had a
go already please do (SAP Store)
