components that may be a significant health and safety hazard thus proper handling petroleum products and observing
precautions must be observed and good standards of industrial and personal hygiene must be maintained.

SECTION 4: FIRST AID MEASURES

Eye Contact Rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water until irritation subsides. If irritation
persists, get prompt medical attention.

Skin Contact Remove contaminated shoes and clothing, and flush affected areas(s) with
large amounts of water. If skin surface is damaged, apply a clean dressing
and seek medical attention. If skin surface is not damaged, cleanse affected
area(s) thoroughly by washing with mild soap and water or a waterless hand
cleaner. If irritation or redness develops, see medical attention. Remove
contaminated shoes and clothing and cleanse affected area(s) thoroughly by
washing with mild soap and water or a hand cleaner.

Ingestion Seek medical attention.

Inhalation If respiratory symptoms or other symptoms of exposure develop, move victim

away from source of exposure and into fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek
immediate medical attention.

SECTION 5: FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

Flash Point, oC 60

Flammability Limits LEL:05 UEL:5.0

(Approximate Volume % in air)

Auto-ignition temperature >250°C

Extinguishing Media In case of fire, use foam, carbon dioxide or dry chemical extinguishers.

Special Fire-fighting Do not spray water directly on fire; product will float and could
Procedures reignite on the surface of the water. Highly flammable vapors which are
heavier than air may accumulate in low areas and/or spread along the ground
away from handling site. Flashback along vapor trail may occur.

Unusual Fire Hazards Extremely flammable. Contains hazardous material. Firefighters should
consider protective equipment indicated in Section 9. Vapor is flammable and
heavier than air. Vapor may travel across the ground and reach remote
ignition sources, causing a flashback fire danger.

Decomposition Products Smoke, fume, aldehydes, Sulphur oxides and other gases are products of
under Fire Conditions combustion.

SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

NOTIFICATION PROCEDURES In the event of a spill or accidental release, notify relevant authorities in
accordance with all applicable regulations.

PROTECTIVE MEASURES Avoid contact with spilled material. Warn or evacuate occupants in
surrounding and downwind areas if required, due to toxicity or flammability of

Revision 3 03/2019

the material. See Section 5 for firefighting information. See the Hazard
Identification Section for Significant Hazards. See Section 4 for First Aid
Advice. See Section 8 for advice on the minimum requirements for personal
protective equipment. Additional protective measures may be necessary,
depending on the specific circumstances and/or the expert judgment of the
emergency responders. For emergency responders: Respiratory protection:
half-face or full-face respirator with filter(s) for organic vapor and, when
applicable, H2S, or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) can be used
depending on the size of spill and potential level of exposure. If the exposure
cannot be completely characterized or an oxygen deficient atmosphere is
possible or anticipated, SCBA is recommended. Work gloves that are resistant
to aromatic hydrocarbons are recommended. Note: gloves made of polyvinyl
acetate (PVA) are not water-resistant and are not suitable for emergency use.
Chemical goggles are recommended if splashes or contact with eyes is
possible. Small spills: normal antistatic work clothes are usually adequate.
Large spills: full body suit of chemical resistant, antistatic material is
recommended.

SPILL MANAGEMENT

Land Spill Taking normal safety precaution, eliminate sources of ignition. Prevent
additional discharge of material, if possible to do so without hazard. For small
spills, implement cleanup procedures. For large spills, implement clean-up
procedures and, if in public area, keep public away and advise authorities.
Prevent liquid from entering sewers, water courses, or low areas. Contain
spilled liquid with sand or earth. Recover by pumping or with a suitable
absorbent. If liquid is too viscous for pumping, scrape up. Consult an expert
on disposal of recovered material and ensure conformity to local disposal
regulations.

Water Spill Use booms to confine spills immediately. Remove from water surface by
skimming or with suitable adsorbents. If allowed by local authorities and
environmental agencies, sinking and/or suitable dispersants may be used in
non-confined waters. Consult an expert on disposal of recovered material and
ensure conformity to local disposal regulations.

SECTION 7: HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling Procedures Avoid all personal contact. Do not use as a cleaning solvent or other non-
motor fuel uses. For use as a motor fuel only. It is dangerous and/or unlawful
to put fuel into unapproved containers. Do not fill container while it is in or on
a vehicle. Static electricity may ignite vapor and cause fire. Place container on
ground when filling and keep nozzle in contact with container. Do not use
electronic devices (including but not limited to cellular phones, computers,
calculators, pagers or other electronic devices etc) in or around any fueling
operation or storage area unless the devices are certified intrinsically safe by
an approved national testing agency and to the safety standards required by
national and/or local laws and regulations. Prevent small spills and leakage to
avoid slip hazard. Do not siphon by mouth. Material can accumulate static
charges which may cause an electrical spark (ignition source). When the
material is handled in bulk, an electrical spark could ignite any flammable
vapors from liquids or residues that may be present (e.g., during switch-
loading operations). Use proper bonding and/or earthing procedures.
However, bonding and earthing may not eliminate the hazard from static
accumulation. Consult local applicable standards for guidance. Additional

references include American Petroleum Institute 2003 (Protection Against
Ignitions Arising out of Static, Lightning and Stray Currents) or National Fire
Protection Agency 77 (Recommended Practice on Static Electricity) or
CENELEC CLC/TR 50404 (Electrostatics - Code of practice for the avoidance
of hazards due to static electricity).

Static Accumulator This material is a static accumulator. A liquid is typically considered a

nonconductive, static accumulator if its conductivity is below 100pS/m
(100x10E-12 Siemens per meter) and is considered a semi conductive, static
accumulator if its conductivity is below 10,000pS/m. Whether a liquid is
nonconductive or semi-conductive, the precautions are the same. A number
of factors, for example liquid temperature, presence of contaminants, anti-
static additives and filtration can greatly influence the conductivity of a liquid.

Storage Procedures Do not store near potential sources of ignition. Store in well-ventilated area.
The container choice, for example storage vessel, may affect static
accumulation and dissipation. Keep container closed. Handle containers with
care. Open slowly to control possible pressure release. Store in a cool well-
ventilated area. Storage containers should be earthed and bonded. Fixed
storage containers, transfer containers and associated equipment should be
earthed and bonded to prevent accumulation of static charge.

SECTION 8: EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

Personal Protection

Ventilation Procedures The use of local exhaust ventilation is recommended to control mists or
vapors. Additional ventilation or exhaust may be required to maintain air
concentrations below exposure limits.

Respiratory Protection Vapor respirator. Be sure to use an approved/certified respirator or equivalent.

Wear appropriate respirator when ventilation is inadequate. Use
NIOSH/OSHA approved full-face respirator with a combination organic vapor
and high efficiency filter cartridge if the recommended exposure limit is
exceeded. Use self-contained breathing apparatus for entry into confined
space, for other poorly ventilated areas and for large spill clean-up sites.

Hand Protection Butyl rubber gloves, nature rubber gloves, neoprene rubber gloves, nitrile
rubber gloves.
