ISO 3233-1: 2019

Client M/s Hempel ME Regional R&D, PO Box 997, Kingdom of Bahrain.
Sample No WSP20-0791 Report No WLRP20-0791/1
Date Received 02.03.2020 Casting Date 07.03.2020
Test completed date 14.03.2020 Date Reported 18.03.2020

1.0 Scope

This test method covers the determination the Non-volatile matter by volume (NVV) of coating materials
and related products by measuring the density of a dried coating for any specified temperature range and
period of drying or curing. This method determines the non-volatile matter immediately after application.

2.0 Introduction
Further to the request received from M/s Hempel ME Regional R&D, dated 02nd of March 2020, the
below mentioned sample was tested for Percentage volume of non-volatile matter as per ISO 3233-1:
2019.

5.0 Volume of Non-volatile matter a disc is weighed in air and in water, coated with the product to be
tested, dried and reweighed in air and in the same liquid. From these measurements, the mass, the volume
and hence the density of the dry coating are calculated. The non-volatile matter by volume is calculated
from the quotient of the density of the coating material and the density of the dry film.

6.0 Practical dry-film density is practically determined density of a dried and cured coating.

7.0 Non-volatile matter (NV) is residue by mass obtained by evaporation under specified conditions.

8.0 Non-volatile matter by volume (NVV) is Percentage residue by volume obtained by evaporation
under specified conditions.
