without these letters are to be used when they are placed on the left or the
right side of the wheelchair.

Complete list of all single parts of the wheelchair is noted and described in our
servicing manual booklet.

ATTENTION: All Victory wheelchairs we are delivering in three different

types of packaging boxes - what depends of the model of the wheelchair
and its basic- compulsory and the optional equipment? Optional
equipment can be delivered separately and in a separate and different
package or inside of the basic box for transporting of wheelchair.

Inside of each package with wheelchair or with optional equipment, there

is manual instruction booklet. So, please before assembling the parts on
the wheelchair and especially before the first use, carefully read all
instructions and follow all advised contents of the manuals.

1.1 Removing the packing If the wheelchair incorporates a height-adjustable backrest,

pull the backrest to the desired height and put the seat cush-
ion in place.

Check all detachable parts to ensure they are in the correct

position as described in the instructions. If the detachable
parts (footrests, anti-tip bars/wheels and drives) are packed
separately and not mounted on the wheelchair, they must
be mounted correctly on the wheelchair prior to use. (Mount-
ing instructions are included in this manual.

The footrests are mounted on the front of the wheelchair.

Once mounted, MyCycle footrests are always attached and
detached vertically from the front - downwards to attach and
upwards to detach. They are located by two dovetail screws
in each footrest which must be located in the footrest carri-
ers and locked in place by a spring latch on the footrest
carriers. This spring latch must be pressed to release and
detach the footrests (illus. 3).

thoroughly. The packaging is not intended for product storage
so it can be discarded. Take the wheelchair from the packing
carton, place it on level ground and release the parking
brakes.

sure that no damage was sustained in transit.

Some wheelchairs are equipped with a single footplate but

most will have separate left-hand and right-hand footplates.

Prior to using the wheelchair, the footrest height must be

adjusted to suit the occupant.

To adjust the height, unscrew the two dovetail screws to

release the insert in the footrest tube. Slide the insert to the
required position and replace the dovetail screws. Use the
special key wrench from the tools supplied with the wheel-
chair.

1.2.2 Adjusting the angle of the footplates

Unlike ordinary wheelchairs, most MyCycle wheelchairs in-

corporate a system for adjusting the angle of the footplate.

towards the footrest tube, then, with other hand, move the

1.2.3 The safety wheels or bars MyCycle wheelchairs can be equipped with safety wheels
or bars.
The safety wheels are on the rear part of the wheelchair,
attached on the rear opening of the frame carriers. Either Each of the mentioned possibilities has certain advantages,
safety wheels or the safety bars must be adjusted at the but normally other prefers to equip the safety wheels, al-

efficient. Namely, after the bars touch the driving surface is
the movement of the wheelchair stopped immediately and
the wheelchair is consecutively returned to normal driving
position. On the other hand, when the safety wheels touch
the driving surface, the wheelchair remains in the same
position and often continues to move to forward and on the
slope even backwards!

Illustration 9a

Illustration 9c

Both systems were produced based on two different sys-

tems of attachment. The system with safety wheels is at-
tached with the handle screw (Illus. 9a), the system with the
safety bars with wedge button (Illus. 9b), where by pressing
the button you can either completely remove the bar or you
turn it to the front (Illus. 9c), where it stays partly blocked.

WARNING: Safety bars are not suitable for applying any

vertical forces on it, for example for assisting person for lifting
the front part of the wheelchair.

1.2.4 PERFORMANCE adjusting backrests

For the most of disabled people is the correct position of

their body in the wheelchair of great importance. Only suit-
able or individually adjustable seat can reduce or suppresses
any permanent damage to the body caused because of
lasting seating in unsuitable wheelchair seat. For the healthy
seating are not sufficient only the surface of the seat and
the position of the legs but mostly the quality and adjustable
backrest. Because of all above described, the
Illustration 9b

8
PERFORMANCE backrests are not designed only for the
most difficult cases of disability where the disabled person
can not control or keep the position of his spine with the
strengths of his muscles, but mainly to disabled people that
would like to prevent any deformations or possible damages
of their spine, shoulders or muscles of the upper part of the
body.

PERFORMANCE backrests contain three unique individual

adjusting possibilities:

- starting adjustment on outer or main carrier of the backrest

- adjusting the changes of the shape of the backrest, that
are made inside of the upholstered part
- adjusting made with the help of other accessory segments:
adjustable outer thoracic (lateral) supporters, adjustable
head supporters, etc.

PERFORMANCE backrests can be delivered already

mounted to MyCycle wheelchairs or in partly mounted way. Illus. 10c - Mounting blocks of central mounting assembly
On Illus. 10-a to 10-p symbolic drawings and pictures of
mounting the backrests to the wheelchairs are presented We fix the mounting blocks as shown to both main carriers

mounting blocks with the help of quick releases on their
outer edges.

backrests are possible after unzipping the zipper on the back
of the backrest (Illus. 10h), which is allowing the access to
the adjusting bolts on each side of the backrest. With
described adjustments (Illus. 10h until 10l), it is possible to
make all above-mentioned adjustments by height, angle,
deepness or side inclinations of complete backrest.

Illus. 10f - Backrest in the extreme left position

It is very important to emphasize that can be PERFORM-

ANCE backrests adjusted (already in its basic adjustments
on the main carrier) not only by its height and angle but also
to inside of the seat of the wheelchair (Illus. 10g). These
kinds of adjustments are in combination with angle adjust-
able footrests of MyCycle wheelchair allowing the disabled
person almost illimitable adjustment combinations for Illus. 10h - Adjusting on its right side
healthy seating.

Illus. 10g - longitudinal adjustments

Illus. 10i - The adjusting place on its right side
Beside the big number of adjustments of PERFORMANCE
backrests, there is also an important advantage - also the
shape of the backrest itself can be adjusted. Adjustments
or changes in the shape of PERFORMANCE backrests are
made inside of the backrest. Standard, 40 cm high backrest
is by its height combined from two separate parts. Each of
these two parts can be separately adjusted and can be fit to
the almost any kind of the back shape of the user.

These separate adjustments of two or even three separate

parts (heighten 60 cm high “paediatrics” backrest) are offer-
ing not only comfortable and healthy seating but also the
therapeutic and curative possibilities. With proper and suit-
able adjustment of the backrest, it is possible to even cor-
rect already curved spine, to prevent any spine deforma-
tions or deformations of clavicle or shoulders as the result
of weakened muscles, etc...

Beside all mentioned adjustments and individual arrange-

ments of PERFORMANCE backrests, it is possible to add
also additional - outer parts.

In all parameters, adjustable outer thoracic (lateral) sup-

porters (for the left and right side) can enable even to the
most severe cases of disability safe and correct seating to
the user. The same is valid also for completely adjustable
PERFORMANCE head supporters, safety belts and other
additional equipment.

1.2.6 Parking brakes

Parking brakes on the wheelchair frame are used for

preventing the movement of the standing wheelchair, e.g.
when the user needs to exit from the wheelchair or to com-
pletely stop the wheelchair next to the working surface, desk
or on steep slope.

Illustration 11

Parking brakes must be adjusted so that, when operating,

they press on the tires with enough force that the wheels
cannot rotate even on slopes larger than 15 %. Only cor-
rectly, adjusted parking brakes can ensure that the wheel-

advantages. For example by moving from the wheelchair to
another sitting place, you can just turn back the armrests

The armrests can be also completely removed while they

are in the back position. Armrests in the back position do
not fall of, but they are leaning on the safety bars the driver

According to the ISO standard all wheels of such wheel-

chair is recommended to be between 175 and 300
mm of external diameter. If break levels are designed
like or similar to the bicycle than it is recommended
that brakes are working opposite as usually: when levels
are squeezed, the brakes are free and when levels are
released, the brakes are activated.

Illustration 13

If we released and push complete armrest to the back-

ward position, it is falling down to anti-tipping carrier.
In such position, usually we can drive for shorter dis-
tances even, if we have Handmaster drives attached
on the wheelchair.

Additional mudguards can be just attached to the arm-

rest and after being used; we can wash and clean them.

1.2.8 Use with different equipment

Apart from standard wheelchairs for manual drive, we

are producing also wheelchairs for transporting of very
heavy disable by means of healthy people. The basic
difference between standard and such wheelchair are
that transport wheelchairs are usually not equipped
with large diameter rear wheels, because driving rims
are not inquired. But the most important part are park-
ing brakes, which are placed on the rear part of wheel-
chair on such position, that healthy person, which is Illustration 14b: Wheelchair “Victory Stability”

porting wheelchairs equipped with additional carriers
for infusions and monitoring medical equipment,
batteries, oxygen tanks and other equipment which is

1.3.2 Changing the seat position

Before entering or exiting the wheelchair, must be the park-

ing brakes first activated. The surface on which the wheel-
chair is located must be horizontal and not so smooth that
could cause sliding or tipping over of the wheelchair.

WARNING: When entering the wheelchair, the footrests

must be removed or lifted; placement of weight on the foot-
rests can cause the wheelchair to tip-over!

1.3.3 Picking-up objects

Picking up the objects off the floor can cause shifting of the
gravity point and can cause the wheelchair to tip-over. There-
fore, it is recommended that users do not attempt to pick-up
objects.

It is very recommendable to assemble this additional

the sand or very soft surface, but also directly into the
(even See) water Before each use of the wheelchair, it is mandatory to check
if both drives are correctly mounted. Check whether both
coupling shafts (on the left and on the right drive) are mounted
correctly and if the safety pins are in place in each coupling
shaft.

1.3.5 Mounting the safety wheels or bars to prevent tipping

(Illus. 9)

For driving outdoors, it is recommended to equip the wheel-

chair with two HANDMASTER safety bars, mounted on the
rear part of the wheelchair, to prevent the wheelchair from
tipping backwards. The height of each safety wheel can be
adjusted, thus determining the angle of allowable backwards
tilt. With assistance by another person, can the safety bars
be turned up, in order to overcome very high obstacles?
Immediately after such obstacle, it is necessary to return
the safety bars back to the previous position.

WARNING: EITHER SAFETY WHEELS OR BARS MUST

BE SET AT EQUAL HEIGHTS. BOTH WHEELS SHOULD
TOUCH THE GROUND SIMULTANEOUSLY WHEN THE
FRONT CASTORS ARE LIFTED.

16
Special attention is necessary when
driving over different obstacles or by
overcoming of more stairs. In all de-
scribed cases, at least one or two
healthy assistants must help disabled
person on the wheelchair.

For smaller obstacles, it is recom-

mended that assistant press with the
leg the anti-tipping device to lift up the
front castors over the obstacle.

If obstacles are higher, it is recommended climbing over the obsta-

cle in the reversed direction. In that case, assistant must incline
complete wheelchair to the backward direction and pull wheelchair
with disabled person up to the obstacle. Driving downwards is
recommended in the same inclined position of the wheelchair, but
with a gentle and slow pushing of the wheelchair to down.

Transporting a wheelchair with disabled person over the stairs is

very similar as transporting it over the larger obstacles. The most
important difference is that on stairs a minimum of two healthy as-
sistants are required. Lifting a wheelchair is always to be done in the
backwards direction and transporting it to down always in forward
direction. It is very important that rear assistant is always attaching
wheelchair on the hand grips placed on backrests and front assistant
must always retained for the parts of the wheelchair which are
permanently fixed on its frame.

OTHER USEFUL INSTRUCTIONS, MAINTENANCES, REPAIR AND WARRANTY DATA

1. Never seat on the same place and without any movement of the body, longer than 15 min-
utes. Constant pressure of your skin on the seat and backrest surfaces can reduce your lo-
cal blood circulation and result with decubitus or other wounds on your skin. In such case,
immediately contact your doctor.

2. Safety belts should be use only when delivered directly from MyCycle. Their first assembly
must be done in factory or from our authorized service. Before using for the first time, read
manuals attached to the safety belts.

3. Inflation pressures of the wheels are noted on each tire. Please note that lower pressure can
seriously reduce driving speed. Using of higher pressure is strictly forbidden. Standard tires
are to be in use until rubber profile which touches the driving surface is minimally 1 mm
high or the longest, 3 years from a day of the first use – but only if mechanical damages are
not present on the tire or other parts of the wheel.

4. From regular maintenances, only cleaning of wheelchair is allowed. This may be done with
soft rag and use of water with non aggressive liquid detergent.

5. Repairing of Victory wheelchairs is allowed only from the side of authorized service and with
original spare parts.

6. In the case that user of the wheelchair is not always the same person, or his weight strongly
wary, carrying capacities of the wheelchair can be checked again:

Weight of wheelchair (without opt. parts) x 9 (+/- 5%) = Carrying load of wheelchair

The best check of regularity of your wheelchair is to push it to drive downwards free on
larger slope. If after 15 meters, aimed direction is not changed, it is very possible that geom-
etry of frame and wheels are correct for safety carrying of complete load.

7. General warranty for Victory wheelchairs is 5 (five) years from date of the first use or, the
latest, 6 years from a day of delivery from producer. Such warranty is valid for all mechani-
cal parts – if they were not destroyed by the means of non-regular use or sources. Warranty
is not valid for rubber or PU tires. Complete life time of Victory wheelchairs is up to 10 (ten)
years but after general repair which must be made after general warranty expires and only
with original spare parts. Using of non-original parts, optional parts or additions on Victory
wheelchair will result with immediate loosing of all general warranty rights.

8. Victory wheelchairs fulfill the requirements according to EN 12183 and ISO 7176.

The ten MyCycle Commandments

1. Never blame cruel fate for your physical limitations, as that same fate has bequeathed the
magnificent power of flight only to the wind and the birds, and strength and speed to the
lion and the gazelle; yet we, deriding that cruelty, can still fly and we are faster and stronger,
because we are able to create mechanical devices.

2. Never pretend that the acquisition of a mechanical device can make you stronger, more
interesting or superior, because upon that acquisition you will be disappointed when you
realise that you can only achieve this by your own deeds.

3. Never ask for advice about mechanical devices from a man who knows everything about it
but has neither created nor used it. If Humanity had relied on advice from such people, we
would still be drifting in the Stone Age.

4. Never ignore the manuals for mechanical devices because in Nature, only human beings are
adaptable and even the hardest steel can be broken.

5. Never try to obtain more from a mechanical device than is offered in the manual because
you will soon discover that its purchase price was much higher than the price of some other
device which according to its manual can do more and different.

6. Never expect the mechanical device to submit to your wishes, habits, demands and feelings.
Only by the correct use of the device can it fulfil your expectations.

7. Never use or handle the mechanical device differently from that provided for in the manual
or you will soon find out that, for the attained effects, the purchase price was definitely too
high.

8. Never be surprised, if the mechanical device breaks down, to discover that in the foregoing
hours, days, or even months, you had been deaf to the usually loud and clear signs of
looming failure.

9. Never forget that even a top brain surgeon cannot guarantee to cut up a cabbage to make a
salad; therefore generously allow our service department to earn its share.

10. Never ignore the fact that a manual for a mechanical device is not written for total fools but
especially for those who are sure that they already know most of what they need.

Creatus
