GROUP DETAILS:
Sustainable cities: The primary research problem revolves around the urgent need to develop
efficient waste management strategies tailored to the specific challenges posed by urban
sprawl.

EXPECTATIONS
B1 Supervisor’s expectations:
The supervisor should set out what he/she expects of the group. This should include a clear
articulation of ethical issues.
B3 Supervision arrangements:
(a) Expected absence of supervisor(s) on leave/sabbaticals or conference attendance during the
next year.
(c) Outline lab arrangements (if any) and supervision arrangements for lab work
C1 The group should set out in as much detail as it can what it expects of the supervisor and the
department
Guidance and Expertise: our supervisor should be an expert in our field, able to guide you through
the research process, methodology, and analysis. They should help us refine our research question
and develop a feasible research plan.
Regular Meetings and Feedback: Expect to have regular meetings with our supervisor to discuss our
progress, challenges, and get feedback on drafts.
Support and Encouragement: Research can be challenging. The supervisor should provide
encouragement and support throughout the project.
Standard of completion for assignments, provide with the literature and sources he has available.

D1 Authorship:
It is our guideline that all who contributes significantly to the conception, execution and writing-up of
a paper should be listed as authors. Any additional points on authorship must be noted here by the
supervisor, including arrangements about the order of listing of co-authors:

Copyright in a Research Report vests in the authors, subject to the rights WITS has in terms of the
general rules.
