SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Dear Professors / Lecturers / Practitioners
It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to the “International congress on Ayurvedic Concepts and
Treatment of Malignant Disorders" which is scheduled to be held on 15th and 16th of December 2012, at Shri
Dharmasthala Mathrushree Rathnamma Heggade Memorial Golden Jubilee Building Bhavaprakasha
Auditorium, SDM College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Udupi.
Ayurveda - The Heritage of Health care and a Way of Life
Ayurveda is a complete, conventional, efficient and popular ancient medical system practiced in India and
neighbouring countries. Accomplishment of physical, mental, social and spiritual well being is the unique
approach of this science of life. This made it conventional rather than complementary or alternative medicine
even after the advent of modern medicine. Promotion of health, prevention of maladies and radical cure to
diseases with holistic approach are the objectives of Ayurveda. The tiny human body is the epitome of mega
universe and is nurtured by the nature. Ayurveda utilizes the products of the nature and corrects naturally the
abnormalities of the body. This is the exclusive fundamental truth believed in Ayurveda that made its objectives
a fact. In addition to the treatment of common ailments, Ayurveda has an edge over other contemporary medical
sciences in treating chronic, lingering diseases like autoimmune, degenerative, metabolic, neurological and
even malignant disorders. The treatment, which is not only effective but also safe is the global need of the day
and is the unmatched quality of Ayurveda. Therefore, it is not surprising that people worldwide have started
evincing a keen interest in Ayurvedic treatment since this is eco friendly, easily available in nature, least toxic
and is very effective. The international workshop and scientific seminar on malignant disorders will be a sincere
effort of the SDM family in the propagation and globalization of glorious Ayurveda. The SDM organization
invites all academicians, clinicians and students of Ayurveda to attend the International conference on
malignant disorders which will be held on the 15th and 16th December 2012 at SDM Ayurveda campus, Udupi
Dist, Karnataka State, India.
SDM College Of Ayurveda And Hospital
SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Udupi was established in 1958, now managed by SDM Educational
Society (R.)Ujire, to revive Ayurveda and to serve the needy. This is an institution that represents the best of
traditional knowledge and contemporary excellence. Padmabhooshana Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade,
Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala is the President of S.D.M. Educational Society. He is the
inspiration behind the success of the College with his commitment to human welfare and social development
through education. Ever since 54 years of inception, the institution has rendered yeomen service to the public
by providing health care as well as a qualitative value based Ayurvedic education to the students. The
institution provides Ayurvedic education at graduate and post graduate levels which are regulated by the
statutory apex body Central Council for Indian Medicine (C.C.I.M.) affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of
Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bengaluru.

4
Theme of the event
Malignancy / Arbuda, essentially a non communicable disease affecting any part of the body at any age and
in both genders. It is emerging as a major health problem in India and worldwide as well. Many types of
malignant diseases are caused due to genetic predisposition, tobacco abuse, erroneous dietary habits,
inadequate physical activity, alcohol consumption, faulty lifestyle and even in a few with no known causes.
Long latent period, quiescent spread, chronic progression, late detection, severe suffering, worst disability,
incomplete response to treatment, frequent recurrence and more than anything, the fatal outcome proves its
magnitude and clinical impact. It needs specialized infrastructure for its detection as well as diagnosis and
multidisciplinary approach for the effective, curative or palliative treatment. The International Congress gains
exalted significance as Ayurvedic treatment for malignant disorders is an alternative, effective option in
contrast to other contemporary medical treatments. Since the complete cure is a remote possibility in almost all
advanced stages of malignant diseases, the motto of the treatment will be "Decease without suffering and living
without dependency". This is best achieved by prudent use of phytochemicals, herbal and herbo-mineral
formulations in conjunction with panchakarma treatment. The main theme of the event is to exploit current
research in science both in the field of Ayurveda as well as phytochemicals for harnessing the field of evidence
based clinical practice in regard to the malignant disorders. It is a noteworthy event which brings together the
renowned researchers, scholarly scientists, eminent academicians and prosperous practitioners to share,
evaluate and pronounce the emerging novel remedy to prevent, control, cure and abate the sufferings of patients
with malignancy. The total programme includes pre and post conference health and educational packages,
workshop, scientific seminar and sightseeing. The pleasant evenings will be filled with refreshing
entertainment reflecting the cultural heritage of India, performed by the students. The whole program is open
for physicians, academicians, postgraduate scholars, undergraduates, as well as all admirers of Ayurveda.
About 2000 delegates from all over India and abroad are expected to participate in this great event. The
workshop and scientific session will be an excellent platform for the exchange of the experiences of the experts
in the field and will also provide an opportunity for those who wish to express the results of their research
work. This is an opportunity for those who want to know the recent advances in the Ayurvedic treatment of
malignant disorders, scope for an in-depth discussion on the same subject. Exhibition related to 8 branches of
Ayurveda will be an additional charisma. Unravelling the complete aspect of Ayurvedic concepts pertaining to
malignant disorders is the sole theme of the seminar.

5
Workshop illuminates the basic concepts
Ayurvedic view of distinctive etiology, factual clinical manifestation, meticulous diagnosis and effective
treatment of malignant disorder will be unraveled by a team of eminent physicians from all over India and
abroad. The following scientists and clinicians are expected to enlighten the delegates by their profound
knowledge and extensive clinical experience.
Dr. Senthamil R. Selvan, USA Dr. Shylaja M Dharmesh, Mysore
Dr. Sanjeev Banerjee, USA Dr. Rana P. Singh, Gujarat
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Jaipur Dr. U. K. Krishna, Japan
Prof. Manoranjan Sahu, Varanasi Vaidya Balendu Prakash, Dehradun
Dr. B.V.Kumaraswamy, Bengaluru Prof. Gurdip Singh, Hassan
Dr. K. M. Madhu, Kottakal Prof. H. M. Chandola, Jamnagar
Dr. Vinuta Deshmukh, Pune Dr. Ravi Shankar B., Udupi
Prof. G. Shrinivasa Acharya, Udupi Prof. Muralidhara Sharma, Udupi
No ambiguity will be left untouched on the dais, so that every aspect of the disease and every explanation in
the ancient texts will be made a practical truth. Needless to say this endeavor is of much benefit for every
physician, academician and student of Ayurveda.
Scientific seminar unravels the truth
Ample knowledge may be gained from the well organized scientific and poster sessions during the days of
congress and will be a perfect platform for the delegates who wish to disclose their noble work of research. The
