The AMA is the technical body for midwifery education, professional development, and
policies that enable every midwife in Afghanistan so midwives can practice the highest
level of care for the mothers and newborns in the country. The AMA is a member of
key national and international forums. For example, AMA is an active member of the
Human Resource Development Task Force, the National Reproductive Health Task
Force, The Maternal Newborn Health committee, the Afghan Women Network, and
the Secretariat for National Nursing and Midwifery Steering Committee. Similarly, at
the regional and international level, AMA is an active member of the International
Confederation of Midwives (ICM), and White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) for safe
motherhood and women empowerment; also a member of the Asia Midwifery
Regional Resource Centre.
Job Description:
Main Purpose:
Implement and cover the gynecological and obstetrician procedures as emergency
cases, performing any other prior treatment required, during or immediately after a
woman has given birth to improve women’s reproductive health and to reduce
pregnancy, delivery, and neonatology risks. This will be done by AMA-
MLMCC policies, MoPH protocols, and universal hygiene standards and in
multidisciplinary collaboration with other medical doctors and midwife services.
Job Description:
Planned, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning her field of action and the
team associated, according to AMA values, policies and protocols, and MLMCC health
standards, to warrant the quality and continuity of health care.
Main Responsibilities:
Job Requirements:
1. Graduated from recognized medical faculty (MD).
2. Specialization degree in Obstetrician and Gynecology approved by MoPH.
3. At least three years of working experience in obstetrics and gynecology.
4. Fluency in the local language and knowledge of the English language.
5. Good Communication skills and ability to interact successfully with staff and clients.
6. Have good communication skills both verbal and written and the knowledge and ability
to use appropriate channels of communication.
7. Good knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word, and outlook email system
8. Ability to manage a demanding workload including high turnover of client care.
9. Teamwork and good behavior with staff and MLMCC’s clients.
10. Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others in a team environment.
11. Strong commitment to the midwifery profession and Afghan Midwifery Association.
