SUPRASANI SMART GLASSES

Problem Statement
Blind individuals often face significant challenges when navigating roads due to unexpected
obstacles. These obstacles can lead to accidents and injuries, greatly impacting their safety and in-
dependence. Addressing this critical issue, our team aims to innovate a cutting-edge solution: smart
glasses designed to detect and warn of obstacles, thereby enhancing the mobility and security of
visually impaired individuals.
Innovative Solution
Our solution involves creating a sophisticated device integrated into spectacles to detect obstacles in
the user’s path. This innovation leverages advanced technology to ensure that blind individuals can
move with greater confidence and safety. The Suprasani SmartGlass uses a combination of sensors
and feedback mechanisms to alert the wearer of any impending obstacles, allowing them to navigate
their environment more effectively.
Product Components
To bring this solution to life, we have carefully selected the following components:
Arduino Nano
The Arduino Nano serves as the brain of our device. Its compact size and powerful capabilities
make it ideal for integrating into spectacles, allowing for precise control and processing of sensor
data.
Vibrator
The vibrator is a crucial feedback mechanism. It provides tactile alerts to the wearer when an
obstacle is detected, ensuring immediate and intuitive warnings.
Battery
A reliable power source is essential for uninterrupted operation. The battery we use is lightweight
yet powerful, ensuring that the device can operate for extended periods without needing frequent re-
charges.
Jumper Wires
Jumper wires are used for making connections between different components of the device, ensur-
ing seamless communication and functionality.
Ultrasonic Sensor
The ultrasonic sensor is the primary detection mechanism. It emits ultrasonic waves and measures
their reflection to detect obstacles, providing accurate distance measurements to alert the wearer.
Spectacle Frame
The spectacle frame is the foundation of our device, housing all the components in a comfortable
and user-friendly manner.
Switch
A simple and accessible switch allows the user to power the device on and off as needed, ensuring
ease of use.
Linked to Sustainable Development Goal
Our project is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 10:
Reduced Inequalities. By providing innovative solutions to enhance the mobility and safety of visu-
ally impaired individuals, we contribute to creating a more inclusive society where everyone has the
opportunity to navigate their environment safely and independently.
